Default Fuel empty meter blinking?

Any mechanics in here? My car's fuel empty meter is blinking (I have half a tank left, which it reads fine), and now the 'check engine' light is also on. Any ideas at all what's wrong? I just filled up a my car a bit yesterday at Shell, as I usually do. Please help!

codes that appear due to the famous gas cap incident can be removed by unhooking your negative battery cable for 15 mins and re-attaching it . thats all they do at the dealers ......been there and done that .

if it appears again , you may have an actual problem.

Why are you blaming your car? It's your wife's fault.

My brother did the same thing with his '03 Pathfinder. Hilarous, I laughed in his face, he was lucky the mechanic didn't charge him the $50 diagnostic fee.

So what do I do to fix it? I'm not quite sure I know where the negative battery cable is to unhook it. It sounds like it's nothing, and that the sensors should be reset?

You see the battery? Negative is usually the black ground wire... and usually uncovered.

(the positive connector is generally red and is usually covered)

At least it's like that for most of the cars I've seen...

The gas cap is for fuel pressure....i usually turn it until i hear 3 clicks.
Yes pull the negative (-) terminal off the battery under your hood for about 15 mins, that should reset your ECU and everything should be back to normal.

If you have a car alarm, make sure you have the remote handy because its going to set off when you re-attach the negative.
