I've seen Matrix Reloaded
I've seen Xmen 2

I've just seen Equilibrium and it is without question the greatest movie I've seen this year. The gun play and fighting is like nothing I've ever seen before and more importantly, the storyline is terrific. What an incredible movie.

hmmmm I guess they didn't want to spend any money on publicizing it ......I just looked it up and it sounds a bit like 'Brazil'
which I watched again last night on the boob tube
(ps when I was watching this I kept thinking of Asscroft)

Sounds like it might be worthwhile to check out

Brazil? Not even close. Think of Fahrenheit 451; replace books with senses; add incredible gun battles and that doesn't even begin to describe this futuristic movie where people who feel are classified as criminals.

And how is Brazil 'not even close' to Fahrenheit 451 or Equilibrium???? Pretty much same premise in all of them... I consider Brazil to be the best one of utopia/antiutopia movies ever made.

Movie was good, but thought could have been better.

The partner of Christian Bale kept laughing throughout the flim, which was one of the flaws of the movie.

I also loved it watched it the other night and it was amazing. Some small problems like all movies. But the Gun Kata makes it all worth while.

As for the laughing they explained that they did not get rid of emotion they got rid of the highs and lows. And he did not laugh he only ever smiled.

Well, let's see. Brazil is about a bureaucrat, in a highly implausible and disgusting retro futuristic world, that tries to correct an administrative error. The premise, plot and acting are all silly and is reminiscent of a bad Monty Python sketch. If you're a fan of Monty Python then you probably like this movie. I'm not and dislike it. It just wasn't my type of science fiction movie.

Equilibrium is about a world in which having feelings is a crime punishable by the death. The premise being that mankind is better off by eliminating emotion thus ending all crime against humanity. Equilibrium is also a spectacle in terms of action. The gun fights are incredibly choreographed and are more exciting then the generic over the top Woo Ping dope on a rope kung fu scenes that are common place in the movies of today.

Thought it deserved another bump... looking for the full fledged DVD now at a decent price... many HMV.ca and Futureshop.ca want $30... too much for my blood. Around $20 is good... any deals out there?

I too felt that the sequences where the Hero "feels" things around him was too stretched. Overall, I think it was neither a shocking concept as the Matrix nor a passable one, got caught in the middle. Deserved more IMO.

Just saw Equilibrium. The action sequences were great - on par with Matrix and MR, at probably 1/10 of the price - too bad about the very long lulls in between (a problem with the Matrix as well). I count only three great sequences though (though the final one was super long and excellent in many ways). The fact that they were called Clerics in itself made the movie cool for me.

Oops, forgot: forget the DVD. Try and pick up the DVD2SVCD rip, and it looks brilliant.

Just saw this one too... amazing fight scenes (maybe even better than matrix?)

Thought the first half of the movie was kind of boring, but it definately picked up after that. That one scene where Bale snaps the guy's arm in half was amazing.
