I don't really find these comic strips funny, but it's humour for a different day and age, simpler and innocent. Elderly people probably love it, just as they would hate the Simpsons or (especially) the Family Guy. Or they wouldn't get Gary Larson's great comic strip, The Far Side.

Humour changes with the era, you had controversial shows like All in the Family in the 70s that dealt with race and other issues. The Reagan era ushered in arguably the most cynical comedy of all time, Married with Children, which paved the way for the Simpsons and the Family Guy. Nowadays, the current crop of comedies are very bland and plastic.

Seriously, isn't the punchline in that cartoon kinda old?

As for funny cartoons, man I miss that old strip "Outland or Bloom County".

I don't find Family Circus to be very funny, like a lot of other comic strips, which is why I never read it.

I find Family Circuis imposing filthy religious tones and promoting stereotypes, and therefore intellectually disgusting.

I never found that comic funny at all.

The only comics I find really funny are Far Side, and Calvin and Hobbes.

I find Garfield, B.C. , Family Circus, Rex Morgan, and that stupid Great Dane Marmaduke to all be wastes of space in the daily comics :P.

Damn I hate Marmaduke so much...

And I guess I'm just not intelligent enough to understand Doonsebury... or maybe it's just not funny.

Family Circus is rarely ever funny (like maybe once a year?). Good thing it's only one little circle in the paper and doesn't take up an entire strip :P BTW, anyone wanna explain the one ullyeus posted (it was in today's Toronto Star)? I don't get it.....

My personal favorite comics are Get Fuzzy, Zits and Sherman's Lagoon B)

oh wow
i actually don't get this one. Obviously the joke revolves around the world coasters. Unless perhaps young billy/tommy/whatever the hell his name is...JEFFY that's the one, is making a poignant observation about his father's good habits?

I don't get it either.

I think I liked Family Circus when I was like 7 years old, about the same time I liked Garfield and B.C. too.

I still like Peanuts though!
