"The puzzling crash of Air France’s Flight 447 killed two of the world’s “most prominent” illegal arms trade and international drug trafficking foes, according to a little-noticed report."

[QUOTE=najibs;8880666][QUOTE=movieman;8879807]In addition, if large parts of the fuselage remained intact they may be able to find those by sonar and hunt down the black box that way.

Good luck with that. It took them about 80 years to find the Titanic in 14,000' deep water, which was a much larger object. Now we're talking about a much smaller object in water that could possibly be 10,000' deeper than Titanic. Finding pieces at that depth is one thing, but actually finding a submersible capable of diving down to that depth AND verifying, AND retreiving even the smallest objects will pose a challenge that's never been encountered before.
Good point, although technology 80 yrs ago would have been pretty limitting. I doubt anyone was seriously trying to find it until the 60's.

Shame the black boxes cant be made to float. But i guess when its fastened to the infrastructure it doesnt matter.

Just wait, and the black box will never ever be talked about in public, am sure they have already found it now....but something not right is going on.
I'm not feeling it.

And it wasn't beeping at them from the sea-bed.

While it's narrower, the fuselage is still around 200 feet long: I believe the remaining sections of the Titanic are 300-400 feet long, so it's not 'much smaller' if it survived largely intact (which, admittedly, is unlikely). And technology has improved dramatically since Ballard went searching for the Titanic.

The record for recovering a black box is around 5,000 meters; so it's not really 'never been encountered before'. Probably harder than that unless they can locate it from the pinger, but a long way from impossible.

No, all of you are wrong. Only I saw what happened.

I was in Eastern Europe, and because of the time difference, I was using the washroom around 4:30am. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Hermoine aparated next to me and hustled: "Fast, you have to see this!"
I put on my cloak just before both of us apparated somewhere above the clouds, just to see a huge group Deatheaters swurl around a 330 model airplane, which had an Air Canada sign on its tail. I immediatelly recognized Voldemort, as I have seen him enter the liquor store where I work. With his wand, he tranformed a piece of cloud into an Air France sticker and smashed it onto the tail of the plane. The rest of the Deatheaters captured the plane with long, red whisps from their wands and everything dissapeared. Then, Harry Potter appeared and helped Hermoine to transport me back to the toilet seat. Then, I could finally pull my pants up.
