Default canon sd 1000

@ Cendirect.com $249.99

@ Canada Computers $249.99

@ Staples $259.99 http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/ca...xedCode=WW&=&=

Possible price match opportunities there for you. Personally, I detest both Sony and Kodak. I suggest going with the Canon, you'll save money on batteries if you don't have a set of good one's already if you buy the DSC700, the C763 is probably one of the worst camera's I've ever had the unfortunate happenstance to have to deal with.

Another one you could look at is the Olympus FE-220. Falls right in to your price range, and its a decent little camera.

Why? Lousy processing and IQ with those (more with the former).

The SD1000 is a great value for $250 or so.

+1

I got a Panasonic FX-01, it's not bad at all, but it's definitely no where near the quality of my Canon Point and Shoot. Sony, had a T10 for a week, the quality is pretty bad IMO.

I'd suggest you look at the Canon A570is which is a great camera.

- Image Stabilization
- 1600 ISO
- 4X Zoom
- Uses AA - Cheap and readily available in a pinch
- Digic III

Really nice camera for $236 txs in.

eBay kits are terrible. They throw in tons of generic junk to make the overall package seem more attractive. You're also probably buying grey market, which means no direct Canon warranty if something happens.

Batteries for the SD800 (OEM ones at least) are not $10...

Agreed. Buy from an authorized dealer with a credit card the extends your warranty.

Funny, I was just looking at SD1000 today to buy for my parents.

Costco.com has it for $199 and Amazon.com has it for $179 (both USD). If you know someone in the states, you could get it shipped to their house.
