Default Did Nintendo send me counterfeits?

I finally got around to ordering replacement straps for my Wii remotes last week. The package arrived today, but instead of Nintendo-branded straps, they sent these 4 very cheap looking/feeling no-name POS's:

Not only do they feel cheap and don't say Nintendo on them, but they're not even white! The plastic nubby part is a gross cream colour.

Now, I'm not usually one to complain about a freebie, but this is different--they sent these to replace a defective product that I purchased...

Has anyone else received these shoddy straps?

They're not counterfeit. They ARE free however and their product was voluntarily recalled based on some wild controller throwing stories.

so are these the same as what everyone else got?

I only ordered them on the off chance that one of mine breaks...I'm pretty careful, but can't say the same for drunk friends...

Now I'll be even more careful so I don't have to use these!

Yeah, these are official Nintendo straps. Though they are butt-ugly, they are more secure than the original ones. I hate them too. I loved how the old ones had the Wii-shaped bottom. Meh, don't fling your wiimote around and you'll never have to use those. I find the original straps secure enough.

Actually those are the second revision of the replacement straps, The ones I recieved, are identical to the original, except the strap is thicker. I ordered mine within a few days of them announcing free replacements. I think they have since switched to a cheaper alternative.

I recieved four replacement straps like those on the right. Original are on the left.

They still have the wii looking ones with the thick line on machines they've been releasing recently too.

Nintendo sent two sets. Some of the earlier replacements got the official looking ones. Later ones (when they ran out of plastics parts in time of christmas) got the crappier looking ones.

Guess I was lucky. Ordered mine on the 26th and got the official looking ones.

Yeah, I'd be pretty upset if I got some cheap **** looking ones. I mean none of ours broke so it wasn't an issue, but if it's wide spread they obviously didn't take into account how rough people would be with the system. Though in all honesty, I expected Nintendo out of all of them to.

My SNES controllers went to hell an back, shielding on the wire let go, one went for a swim in a toilet...all worked 100%.

Am I the only one who doesn't use the straps at all? I probably used the strap for a total of half a minute since I got my Wii months ago. That strap is annoying as hell.

IIRC, Nintendojo did a test, and the straps withstood a 90 lb weight attached without breaking.

With the new or old straps? If it's the old strap then it would have to be some manufacturing flaw, for kids to get enough whip on the remote to have it snap off, it had to be busted to start.

Either or I'd complain and try and get the standard looking strap. In my opinion the Wii is a very stylized system, and those wrist straps have no right to be strapped to those remotes.

Before.

OK. May not 90. "25 pounds of books and 100 fl oz of Mountain Fresh laundry detergent."

I don't use it for WarioWare, especially when playing multiplayer (for obvious reasons). I find it much easier to play without the strap.

Anyway, I'm also glad I ordered them early on, as those cheaper replacement straps look just that, cheap.
