Diaper Champ is much cheaper because you don't have to buy special refill bags, you just use regular shopping bags or kitchen catchers. We managed to get a clearance one at TRU for $19.

Only had experience with the Genie, but have to say I LOVED it...so anything that works like that and seals the diapers in tight will do well!

There is another one. Neat system (by Safety 1st). No smell at all, cartridge for about 120 diapers is ~$6 @ walmart. Way better than Genie.

We use the diaper champ!
You never need to buy bags...just use the ones from the grocery store.

Smells never get out of it....but boy does it smell when you need to change the bag!

used to use the genie, didn't keep the odours in. now we use a regular garbage can for the pea only diapers and the poo diapers get put in a plastic shopping and outside in the garbage can right away... keeps the cats and racoons out of the garbage

we use the diaper genie and it keeps the odours in quite well...
but the capacity is quite small so we're finding we need to clear it out every couple of days

also the refills are quite expensive..

but even tho it keeps the odours of DIRTY diapers in..it can't keep the smell of a pooping/farting baby! we're finding the smell of our pooping baby worse than his diapers!

I've never used any of these. I'd simply put the diapers in the large trashcan in the garage once or twice a day. Never smelled in the house and wasn't that bad in the garage. I'd say save your money.

If the mother is breatfeeding and does not introduce formula then the baby's poop will hardly smell.

We have only used diaper genie. The genie does keep the smell in, but buying the special plastic bag can be costly. But, in any products, they have their pros and cons.

I'll second the neat system - reasonably cheap, no smell and the cartridges don't have to be changed very often ( about once a week for my 14 month old )

You can only do this for so long. The baby will have to get solid foods and should do so early on.

Having two infants this past couple years., I should say that we've NEVER used any such contraption.

Wifey's sense of smell is of the calibre of Hannibal Lekter(sp?), and DON'T GET ME STARTED on during her first trimester how EVEN FURTHER it sharpened...so if the diapers really stunk she would've insisted on it.

We live in a house., and if it's a Dump we just put it straight outside the door on a little bag on the handle. When we get a few of them, I just walk the bag to the garbage pails.

We even do this during the winters. Nothing like alittle blast of "The Valley" cold air as I walk the diapers out to the garbage. I take pleasure in doing it., and am thankful we never had to bother with these diaper genie thingies.

My $0.02

I suppose this method is n/a if you are in an apartment.
