Last week, sdm had duracells (which were rebranded eneloops) on for $8.88. I know it's a little OT since it's not available now, but it's useful as info that may be that price again in future.

You may be cheating yourself. I find 2000 mAh eneloops last longer than other 2500+ mAh batteries in my experience.

Try eneloop AA with only 2000mAh, you will find it lasts longer than, for example, durcell 2200mah or 2500mah. Especially for game controller, and remote controller.

i think it depends on the application....I can see a higher mah beating out eneloops in certain applications....esp in high drain daily usage apps

I ordered some of these from dell on Dec. 29th and they're still not expecting to ship until the 12th so don't count on getting these before let's say February.

Eneloops last longer because if you don't use the device for a long period of time, they dont discharge as fast as normal NiMH batteries.
That's why people say eneloops last longer and they run longer too.

If you use 2500+ batteries, they WILL run longer than Eneloops under CONSTANT usage.

But if you're not constantly using, something like a digicam, then Eneloops would certainly last longer than regular 2500+ Mah batteries.
