Does anybody know if future shop would be able to price match this? Also, does future shop now tack on the next day shipping charge too?

Pretty sure the 9800 is faster. The AIW features are the icing on the cake.

9800 Pro is indeed faster, and AIW is a great feature and selling point for later on.

This has only a 1 year warranty as opposed to a 3 year on the non Radeon at FS. probably better to have the 3yr warranty for the xtra money

Yah for some reason they went with a 128 bit bus on the X700 but if you get something like the X700Pro or XT it is faster than the 9800 Pro (faster than the 9800 XT actually) but not by much:

Will this fit the recent eMacines that were on sale from Futureshop?? Did they have an AGPslot?

If i ever get the computer from future shop I'dlike to add PVR and HTPC capability to it and this card looks good.

You can try and let us know, but I believe the answer is yes and no since YMMV.

If it is an online canadian retailer, in stock, and offers next day shipping then I see no reason why they wouldn't PM it, unless you're stuck with a newbie or sh*tty manager who claims FS doesn't PM websites; like the one in Cloverdale Victoria.

One thing that might make a PM not possible.

On BB/FS website it states that the AIW 9800 Pro comes with a 3 years warranty. While on Infonec it's a 1 year warranty.

Though it might be a typo, but could potentially ruin the opportunity of a PM.

Watch out for this:

http://www.futureshop.ca/information...gon=&langid=EN

We will beat lower prices advertised by authorized dealers located in Canada, including prices advertised on the Internet. If, within 30 days* of purchasing an item from Future Shop or futureshop.ca, you find the same product advertised at a lower price, we will gladly refund you 110% of the difference.

I was at FS last night to do a pm on the Maxtor HD against BB. The sale person gave me a hard time with this clause. The transaction went through and I was about to sign and noticed only a straight pm. He said "pm is after the purchase, you need to go to cs for the 10% as the deal already valid regardless of the signature". . Looking at the long lineup for the boxing day return .... no wait. I argued with him for a good 5 minutes, asked for the manager, show me the policy. He said manager is busy, internet not working. So the decide to do the 10% himself, just for me. I got home, did the calculation, $1.15 short . Next time when I do return, I will deal with it .

The need to go to CS for the 10% is just plain BS. I always get the extra 10% off for the pm when they enter the reason for a price override.

Yes, BS, stupid, idiot . I did a few 110% pm at FS before without any hassle, except this time. Some people like to follow rules, others prefer common sense .

Ther AIW 9800 Pro is based on old technology and won't won't work with newer Intel processors - specifically HT chips, could apply to dual core chips too - I'm not sure. This mainly applies to the TV part of the card, and ATI know of the problem and have no fix for it - except for the newer 2005/2006 AIW cards.

If you have AMD or an intel slower than say 2.4Ghza you should be OK.

Don't need this card, but it's pretty tempting. Best price to date for a very nice htpc card.

I've been burned by this before as well. I was offered a PM but not by 10% of the diff because it was not a previous purchase. In addition, they would not let me buy it at regular price and bring to CS for a PM. They said now that they know about the lower price, they can only sell it at the same price at their competitor so that I can't come back and PM for an extra 10%.

I called FS HQ later and was told that this was indeed their official policy.

They are a close match...I think the X700 is a bit faster than the 9800, a little bit slower than the 6600GT. The AIW has the tuner and remote., The X700 has 256MB of ram. It's really a matter of preference/requirements.

Save the VIVO functions, would this be worth getting to replace a 9700 PRO?

Me too. Actually at Best buy. I PM the Harmony 659 remote from Dell, but they would only PM at, and not beat it by the 10%. Their reason was that if the took the 10% off...the item would be below their cost.

nah, if you just want a faster card and aren't going to use the vivo you might be able to scare up a 6600 for close to the same price.

has anyone tried pm this at bb or fs yet?
a friend of mine that used to work at bb, said the only reason they may not pm this item is because it may be "brown boxed"
