Default Cutting in from the Left Turn Lane

Ok, so I don't drive rush hour traffic often, usually once, twice a week. Among all the other morons out there at that time of the day, I'm increasingly seeing this kind of behaviour.

I'll be driving, south bound Bathurst between Steeles and Sheppard for example. It's normal, red light to red light traffic. I'll be in the left lane (NOT the turn lane), and as everyone approaches an intersection, a car will accelerate into the left turn lane, accelerate really hard, and instead of turning left will squeeze back into traffic, cutting everyone off and setting of a sea of red lights.

Or, everyone will be sitting at a red, and a car will again come up the left lane from way back down the line, and instead of staying in the left lane will stick their front bumper back into traffic forcing their way back in.

Only the latter example has happened to me, and I'll lay on the horn, but the coward didn't even acknowledge his act, instead just drove normally the rest of the way in traffic! What gives?

Is this left turn lane jumping a normal thing in rush hour traffic? Also, ever time I see it happen, the cut off person never honks or anything.

Not normal, just typical aggressive Toronto drivers that feel the rules don't apply to them.

That... is not normal. That is a particularly douche bag move.

Haven't seen what you described, but I have seen people do the same thing using the right merging lane (on the highway) during heavy traffic.

I block people who cheat and try to cut in front of everybody. Being a douchebag never pays.

the worse are those people that pull out from the left lane, and drive all the way up the right lane to the parked car and then cut back into the left.

i hug the guy infront of me to not let them in and i get the dirtiest stares from people.. honking giving me the finger....

i waited in line like everyone else... you should wait too.... ahole

That's risky, dangerous and illegal. While it may save time, seem smart and be completely safe if done properly, the driver is doing something that circumvents regular driving standards.

More specifically, when the line isn't a broken or dashed line on the road, it can't be crossed in that manner. Just be careful with them, and know that if they hit you, they are at fault (at least legally, insurance will blame you somehow lol).

To add to that, I honk my horn at the driver infront of me that lets 3 or 4 cheating drivers ahead of him...

leave 5 min earlier or... leave 15 later

Markham road you mean?

If you're in Woodbridge, Islington Ave going South and East to High way 7 is only 1 lane and only allows maybe 5 cars to make a left.
