Any word on what Canadian cities it supports? Does it cost extra to get US maps?

garmin rocks.. i recently got a c320 and love it. Screen size should not be a concern, cuz Garmin uses 1st person view.

This is the same "busted/crap" unit from last Christmas, they have changed their name to Nextar from of Macvision.

Yes it costs extra for U.s. maps, but they STILL HAVE NOT released it since last Christmas, I doubt they ever will.

Q. I was told it came with major US city maps too, is it true?
A. It comes preloaded with Canadian maps only. The us maps will be available late 2005 when the US model is released. For now, US Long Haul is available only. US long haul will be able to view when you scale to 10 KM.

There are maps for the U.S. only major highways built in, the unit is also of cheap quality, many RFD users in the old thread (don't bump it up please) had GPS problems, booting problems, overheating problems.

You get what you pay for with "no name", avoid this and get a Garmin or other branded GPS.

GARMIN ROCKS

You can find which CD's work with this unit on the RIGHT side of this page:
http://www.garmin.com/products/spi3/

This unit already has street level detail, there is no need to buy another one.

Most units are loaded by a USB to serial adapter that goes into the GPS unit. newer ones are USB.

the garmin comes with north american map, which include USA as well.

a 256Mb card holds more the whole east coast.

Are you positive on this one? I don't CT wanted to sell the same crap again after having major returns from last time.

Also there seems to be a firmware update on their web (v1.1) maybe that fixes pile of problems? (wishful thinking)

I use TomTom on my palm T3 with a bluetooth GPS in the trunk and its an absolute dream. If I was going to buy a standalone unit it would be TomTom hands down, I've tried about a dozen other applications for PDA and PC and none compare.

They did for some odd reason...Macvision has now changed names, maybe Canadian Tire fell for it?

That firmware upgrade was released OVER 4 months ago.

And the U.S. maps are STILL not for sale after 6 months.

Maybe you are right. Futher research, their 'newer' model http://www.nextar.com/frontend/prodd...P7&co=10000312 is more attractive. Not only it runs Linux OS and it has US Map as well (or as it claims)

P7 - Preload with US & Canada Map
vs.
MN2707 (not MN2607 CT is selling) - Preload with Canada & US Long haul only

And both unit looks almost the same (even the HW specs)

Yup, it seems Canadian Tire is selling the older unit with no U.S. maps, man you'd think Canadian Tire would wake up and stop selling this one where you can't add U.S. maps and is of poor quality. Wasn't this the EXACT SAME PRICE it was last Christmas? $100 off my foot.
