Default Cheapest way to Advertise

Some options:
(if you are a local business)
Post on Canadian/local forums with your web address in your signature.

Talk to friends and family and tell them to pass the word on.

Leaflets on car windows.

What about Google adds?

Im trying to get known, what are some other cheap solutions?

Not sure how much business you would get but you can try craigslist.com

Local business magazines, tech magazines. Direct mailing campaign to your target market. Post a flyer on local business bulletin boards.

Check out vistaprint.ca for almost free business cards, magnets, postcards, etc.

I've ordered 150 free postcards (just paid shipping) to place in doctor's offices, midwife practices, child-care places, etc.

Offer a contest? It usually does cost too much to offer a product or service as the prize and this can generate a lot of advertising.

Get other businesses to link to you, and link to them in return.

Good luck!

Are there any sites that would be willing to link to me,
in return for a link back?

Be careful who you link with dude. It's all about relationships - you are sending your visitors to another site - make sure you cover off things like PIPEDA (privacy act) on your webpage to protect yourself.
