Default Cheap or Smart?

For as long as I can remember I have always been a bargin hunter. Could never understand why spending full price on something was acceptable when you could have it for less with a little searching.

Being a bargain hunter and avid thrift store lover, I got fed up with the traditional money grab of these holidays. Christmas is bad enough but when I have to spend a ton of money to tell someone I love them just made me cringe. Luckily over the years a card and a little alone time would usual suffice the boyfriends, but that was when I was single and young. I have now been married for almost 5 years and its not so easy since the money he spends or I spend comes from the checking account not once but double since we have to exchange with each other out of one checking account.

I have recently stated that from this holiday forward we would not celebrate the day of the holiday but two days after, thus allowing us to get all the love merchandise on sale by a savings of 50 to 75% off since the holiday is now over. Cheap? Maybe but let me tell ya its a savings in our pocket book. We love each other every day not just on V-Day so whats the difference if its a few days later.

Now if I can convince the kids to allow us to have Christmas 3 days later I can get some amazing deals.

You would need to convince the kids to have christmas about 2-3 weeks after i think to get some cheaper deals.. or you could convince them christmas comes like a month beforehand. Either way works as long as it does not fall in that month itself.

Good point on the valentines day thing though. Now the hard part, convincing the other person for me

I am with you on the V day. I think it is just a man-made day to scam people. I am a girl myself but I really against the idea of wasting $$ like that. My vote, you are smart!

but vday is not a holiday! You have to work on that day! And you can empty your pocket on a daily basis regardless of holidays or not. As for myself, I don't spend anything on Family Day, Easter, Victoria Day, Canada's Day, Civic Holiday is not for everyone, Thanksgiving. So these are the holidays that I don't empty my pocket.
