Camera bag thread

I see camera bag as a essential part of Photography. I need one that will carry a lot of gears and another one that will be good for the casual occasions.

They tend to be over price must of the time, as camera store make majority of there profit from accessories, and we are sucker for it....

I use a Lowepro Mini Trekker Classic as shown below:


Is a good little bag with the ability to carry a few lens and is quit comfortable. The downside is the lack of a tripod carrier.

Another bag is I use more often than the Mini Trekker is my Lowepro Nova 2 AW. It compact enough to carry a flash, body and two lens. Good for a quick walk in the park.

One of the problems with the smaller bags that I found is that they often dont fit the camera + grip with the lense on. So I end up getting a bigger than necessary bag. Personally I like shoulder bags becasue you can easily get your stuff from the bag while walking around. I also found http://www.tamrac.com/ has some pretty good bags at reasonable prices.

Camera bags are overpriced and most of them look downright ugly or worst of all "dorky".

so the best option is to get those small single body or lens bags, put your camera(s) and the lenses inside and then put them all in a nice and sturdy backpack. once you're in the location, you can attach the small bags on to your belt or get a harness.

Here is what I use:
- A Lowepro Mini Trekker Classic as the OP. Good to carry all my gear when I travel. Not very expensive and offering a good protection. You can attach a small tripod to the bottom of the bag with two fasteners.


- A Crumpler 6 million home for everyday use. I love this bag! It doesn't scream "I have an expensvie camera" and it's a shoulder bag so I can grab my camera quickly if I need to. It's a bit pricey but worth every $. I can carry my XTi with a grip and the Tamron 17-50 attached to it, the 70-200 F4, a flash, a couple filters and there's still room for another lens (Tokina AF124 I hope )

Lowepro bags are worth it as they have lifetime warranty, if the bag ever breaks bring it back to their distributor in Markham and they'll replace it for you with the same model.

I have 2 of their bags, one for camera with long tele lens attached and another for everyday carry lens.

I'm still trying to find the "right" bag.

I've currently got a LowePro Stealth reporter AW300 - holds enough stuff for photo outings, but isn't quite right somehow. I've also got a tamrac shoulder bag which isn't bad - it's small enough to be light and subtle, but I can't fit all that much in there - it's too narrow to handle a body with a grip attached.

Also have a LowePro toploader for hiking or more active trips - it's the largest one they make, but won't fit my 18-200 with the hood reversed - I have to leave it at home.

I'm not really a backpack person when it comes to photo gear.. any other ideas?

i like this bag, doesnt look like a camera bag and it's messenger style so you have easy access to your stuff

I have the 7 Million Dollar Home, and I love it too... got my D70s + 18-70, 50mm, 70-300, SB800, plus photobank and other accessories all stuffed into it comfortably. One thing that I wish it had is a thicker shoulder pad though, as it can feel a bit thin when carrying a heavy load.

The great thing is that it's soooooooo much easier to pass off as "just-another-bag".

I use Lowepro slingshot AW200.

Fits very comfortably with 3 lenses, 2 body, and a flash.
