awesome lens. It's good in that it is not a very long focal length so you should be able to handhold at shorter shutter speeds than the other macro's. Disadvantage is the minimum working distance is not very far so for the skittish bugs, it's not very good.

It also does well as a waist-up portrait lens. Very very sharp, I used it as a walkaround for a few months before I got my 35mm f/2D and I was completely satisfied. It used to always be a part of my walkaround kit but I've relegated it to more specific duties now.

I won't part with it.

Always has been a sharp lens - the "recipe" for the lens has been around for decades.

There are really only two issues:

1. It's 60mm. You will find that the working distance to the subject is rather small - ie. you might have to get really close to get the shot you want.

2. Focus is really slow since it's a macro lens.

Focus is acceptable if using the "limit" switch. Macro is usually best done with a tripod and manual focus.

I own one, and while not my most used lens, it's definitely my favourite for feel and sharpness. I'm generally more satisfied with photos taken with this lens than any other glass I own.

Not a problem. In addition to the Micro Nikkor 60/2.8 I frequently use a Nikon 18-200VR, Nikon 50/1.8, Sigma EX 70-200/2.8, and a Sigma EX 10-20. I've also got some less fancy glass in a Tamron 28-200 (currently for sale) and I've owned the usual assortment of entry level lenses.

Nothing comes close for bokeh, and the only lens that can touch it for sharpness is the 50/1.8 stopped down a couple stops.

I'm sure you'll love yours.

I was searching for some 60mm lens review and according to SLRgear, they say this nice has a log of CA~~ I am a little concern~

BTW, does it come with a lens hood? My 35mm f2 didn't~ I was a bit disappointed..;.

No hood.

I don't shoot wide open often for macro so I can't say about CA there. I have taken portraits in the sun and on sunny days at f/5.6 and there's no offensive CA in the hair strands or on other objects.

Mine's an older copy, but I don't think they've changed it at all over the last 10 years or so. No hood, 62mm filter thread. It's also surprisingly heavy - though I find that to be a good thing as it balances nicely on a D50 or D80 body. The focus ring on mine is nice and stiff and stays where you put it.

I haven't seen any apparent CA with this lens, but I don't often shoot wide open in good light, either.
