In partnership with the La vie en vert tv show, since September 2007 you can drop off your used computer equipment for recycling at almost all Bureau en gros locations (Staples in Quebec). Your used equipment wil be disassembled for recycling by the CFER network.
The equipment accepted includes: PCs, laptops, monitors, printers, fax machines, scanners, cables, keyboards, mouses, telephones, answering machines, digital cameras and cell phones. No home A/V electronics. List of participating locations here Here's hoping that Staples extends this program to the rest of Canada. |

I'm not sure how many other cities have a similar program but Ottawa has a program they call "Take It Back!" on their website which provides an extensive list of places that will take be various recyclable items.
Take It Back! Program The programs lists where to take back everything from batteries to fur coats (!?) to computers ...and on and on. For computers specifically, the list has grown over the last year or two - there are many places that will take them back to recycle. http://app01.ottawa.ca/takeitback/Bu..._id=12&lang=en The most famous of these in Ottawa is of course Computer Recyclers who have been taking back desktops for Ottawa residents for a long time and make sure that nothing ends up in a landfill. http://www.computerrecyclersottawa.com/
