Default Best Buy Price Guarantee: Boxing Day Usage?

Hello,

Is it possible to take advantage of Best Buy's 30-day price guarantee as follows: an item was purchased this week at Best Buy; on Boxing Day the price will be, say, $20 less expensive.

How would you use the price guarantee online? Would the item have to be in stock? Or would you have to go to the store on Boxing Day (preferably not) or during Boxing Week, and again would the item have to be there also?

Essentially, this involves having Best Buy honouring their price guarantee on their own products.

Thanks!

Here is the official policy that you can find on the Best buy website Here
Our Lowest Price Guarantee

Our Lowest Price Guarantee makes sure you get the best price on the products you buy at Best Buy and BestBuy.ca

We will beat lower prices advertised by authorized dealers located in Canada, including prices advertised on the Internet. If, within 30 days* of purchasing an item from Best Buy or BestBuy.ca, you find the same product advertised at a lower price, we will gladly refund you 110% of the difference. If our own price is reduced within 30 days* of your purchase, we would be pleased to refund you the difference as well. *Computers, Monitors, Computer Creation Station Computers, Printers, Notebook Computers, Camcorders, Digital Cameras, Radar Detectors, Portable DVD Players and Air Conditioners are eligible for price protection under our guarantee within 14 days of the date of purchase.

Simply present us with your original Best Buy or BestBuy.ca sales receipt, along with proof that the item you bought is being advertised at a lower price. Once our staff verifies that the item is in stock and available for immediate sale and delivery at the advertised price, you will receive your refund. If you purchased the item from BestBuy.ca and there is no Best Buy store in your area, you can contact us at 1-866-237-8289 or by email at customerservice@bestbuycanada.ca. The advertised item must be of the same brand and model as the purchased product, must be new and factory sealed, and subject to a manufacturer's warranty applicable in Canada. Advertised prices must be in Canadian dollars, and will be calculated to include all charges applicable for next day delivery to your home address. Our Lowest Price Guarantee does not apply to advertising errors or misprints, special educational prices, restricted offers, mail order offers, rebates, coupons, premiums, free or bonus offers, OEM products, limited or minimum quantity or limited time offers, close-outs, liquidations, clearances, and special financing offers.

The terms and conditions of the Lowest Price Guarantee are subject to change without notice.

Hope that explains everything.

Cool basically...

you can't buy an item before the boxing day and go on boxing and get the difference if it's out of stock.

You are correct sir, but you can return the product that you have bought before and they could give you the difference on that one. But it all depends on how nice the store staff is. They usually say no returns on boxing days but according to there policies all you have to do is show them the receipt and the new price and it should be a painless transaction.

It can be done, but you'll have to fight for it. Stores with Boxing Week sales are a lot easier to deal with; you can go in during obscure hours (like Sunday at opening) and get it done with relative ease.

FYI, they have signs up at the Ottawa location on Merivale which basically say no returns/exchanges/pm'ing between Dec 26-28.

It seems that Managers have the discretion to reject price matching if they feel it is being "abused" instead of lowering the price to match the competition (what a concept!). This happened to me this summer, so I can't see the manager being any more accomodating on a busy day like Boxing Day. Depends on the store and depends on the item.

It should be easy to get back the price difference on something that you bought a day or two before boxing day on boxing day at the same store. Remember when you buy something the store has to honor the terms and conditions that they sold the product under which includes the Lowest Price Guarantee and the return policies which you can ask for or sometimes its printed right on yore receipt. None of those contain any exemptions for boxing day or any other day. The stores may say that they do not do any returns or exchanges on boxing day but if you push them enough they will. I newer had any problems getting the price difference on an item i bought before a big sale on the actual sale day. If you have any experience doing it please share them with us.

Well, for any items that I happen to buy which end up on sale on Boxing Day, if a store refuses to honor their price-adjustment, I'll fight it until the bitter end. Worse comes to worse, I'll return the item and instead of keeping a little less of my money, they'll have none of it.

Mind you - I'm NOT referring to trying to do price matches to other stores on Boxing Day - I'm talking about if they have a lower price in 14 or 30 days, refunding the difference.

Just remember guys, if you bought it and it's cheaper on Boxing day, a lot of them wont have the RETURNS counter open. They wont accept any returns until the 27 or 28th. Dont buy it this week, then go into FS on the 26th and expect some money back. Go a few days later.

Well this would be fine for a normally functioning, logical, and reasonable human being. However, what if you go back after the sale and they say that the "sale" price was yesterday and is no longer available or something silly like that. I'd rather be there on the day when the price is in effect than have to deal with some lame excuse like that. Just my 2 cents.

I posted this in another thread, but I will post it here anyways:

Can you get the money back through price protection from a Mastercard or something? They don't specifically exclude door crashers or boxing day deals...

But then they need an original receipt. Do they return it afterwards?

This is true, they won't honor the difference if it's a boxing day only sale price. But if it's a boxing *week* sale item, then you can definitely get the difference back. I did this last year on a VCR.

Does anyone know if the Best Buy flyer delineated Boxing *Day* sales or Boxing *Week* sales?

Thanks again, to all.
