So I can't verify this deal beyond the one example I've seen, but I'll post it anyway and see if anyone else has had similar experiences.
My sister recently was offered a deal to switch from her current cellular provider, Rogers, over to Bell Mobility. She agreed to the offer and traded in her busted-ass old Motorola flipphone, canceling her rogers contract. For making the switch, she was given a brand new Sanyo camera phone (pretty nice btw) and a free _YEAR_ of service from Bell. I'm currently on Telus and am going to approach my local Bell outlet (Kelowna, BC) about this tomorrow. Will update as I find out more. If you're near a Bell outlet, or mall kiosk, you might want to give this a try too. - Skim |

Yeah, I heard the commercial on the radio a few days ago.
I'd consider it, but I love Rogers GSM network too much

Are there any other perks beyond one year free service? What plan do they include for the year? And you must lock in for 3 years right?

The switcher deals are only available to existing Fido/Rogers customers. If want to switch, looks into the Telus plan:
http://www.telusmobility.com/on/max_45/index.shtml Gaves you a better choice of phones (the Sanyo phone on Bell suxxs) and an option for the $25/Month plan, 3 year contract but 1 year free. |

I'm a Rogers customer and have been one for a while. I was very interested in the Telus deal so I called up Rogers and told them I was interested in their deal and was considering opting out of my contract with Rogers and going with Telus.
Rogers matched the Telus deal feature for feature and gave me a hardware upgrade too. So my next year is free, and after that my plan is $45/month- after 6 and weekends free and 700 daytime minutes. I had to renew for another 3 years, which is the same contract Telus wants you to sign. So I got the exact same Telus deal without the headache of changing companies and phone numbers. Pretty sweet. Call up your Rogers rep and threaten to cancel, and they will most likely match the Telus deal. Good luck. |

I think that holds true for all of the telecom companies. I've had a contract with each one at one time or another and IMO Bell has been the best overall CSR experience. That might also mean that the Western Canada CSRs are nicer than the Eastern Canada ones, I don't know :/
Oh and for the guy wondering why Telus customers can't switch over, it's because Telus/Bell have roaming agreements. Telus roams on Bell in the East and Bell on Telus in the West. So taking Telus customers wouldn't be in Bell's best interest. Quote:

There's also a $400 early cancellation fee, and you still pay SAF during the first year and any extra features you need. The phone itself is worth about $300. It might be worth it, depending on your current plan. Bell is trying to skim off the high-end $45/month customers first.
