Any recommendations for a good seafood restaurant that's not too fancy? I've tried red lobster but it wasn't too spectacular. Which seafood restaurants do you guys go to?

You're kidding, right? Joey's Only? A seafood restaurant who's main cooking implement is a deep fryer?

How about The Fish House? (One on Front Street, on at Sheppard & DVP) Been there a couple of times, not bad. Definitely a step above Red Lobster.

i like filet of sole on duncan (near the princess of wales theatre). i think entree price is anywhere from $18 to $25 or more for the fish entrees.

Another vote here for Filet of Sole.

There is a resturant on Dundas and Islington called Pinocchio

They are an Italian restaurant but they have some incredible seafood dishes. They make this seafood platter that has this sauce that is to die for. I highly recommend them. I also went in last week and their fish of the day was halibut, extremely tastely and worth every penny

One of the best Asian seafood places (IMO) is Magic Wok on 14th by Kennedy Rd. (right beside Old School restaurant and Miliken Mills baseball fields.

had a bad experience with them with some fish.
ordered steamed fish, but the waiter kept pushing that the fried one was much better so we tried his recommendation. came out, it stunk!!! the fish was bad...they need fresh fish to steam, so they tried to cover the smell by frying it.
parking is impossible, reservations are non-existant.

honestly the quality of Magic Wok was much better before they moved. (when they were at Sheppard/Brimley)

Great japanese seafood/sushi: Sushi Man (victoria/richmond) Japanese chef, very knowledgable...

I think Filet of Sole is pretty good too. The Lobsters are fresh from their tank!

Rain is pretty good too, but super pricey. I think I had a Black Sole?

I went to Captain John's a long time ago, and I was really disappointed. Red Lobster is better than that!

How do you know the Lobsters are fresh from their tank? Do they cut the sucker up infront of you?

I've heard of magic tricks where there's a lobster tank outside and a lobster tank inside the kitchen. You let the customer pick from the outside bring it into the kitchen and put it in the tank in the inside and replace it with a cheaper dead lobster. :cheesygri

If you like Lobster, Lobster Trap is good. And you have to try their lobster soup too...Yummy :D

Old Thread, still a good subject.

Any other suggestions for a good and decently priced seafood restaurant in the GTA?

I agree! Definitely order steamed lobster and the lobster bisque! On numerous occasions I have found sediment on my utensils and drink glasses. Great lobster nonetheless.
