I'm the only user of my computer. Ever since I updated the .NET thing from www.windowsupdate.com, I get this login screen (no need password) that I need to click before my windows load up. How do I get rid of that so that it will just load everything when I power up?

Thanks!

Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change the way users log on or off -> Uncheck Use the Welcome Screen.

Thats great - how can I prevent Xp from going into that hibernate screen where I have to clik on my Username. It also tells me how many progs are running. I'd rather just not have this stupid screeen

Oh no...It is still there. Except it is worse now, I have to type in my username but no password to complete the load up. I quickly switched back the Welcome screen. So, any more ideas? I still have to click on that administrator icon to complete the windows loadup! Help!

Right click anywhere on Desktop -> Properties -> Screensaver -> Uncheck On resume, display Welcome screen

1. is there any "normal" way to get to that screen?

2. Also, I have sharing my files on my network but I want to give a Read Only option to user A, and Read&Write permission to user B. it seems that I can't find the permission buttom on "sharing files" option. Is it hidding somewhere else? I can find it in WinXP server or Win 2000.

Thanz for your tips.

1. Not that I know of.

2. You must be using XP Home, if so, the Sharing & Security option is only available if you boot in Safe Mode.

They removed it from XP non-server for some reason. MS seems to think they know better than us when it's time to share our files

That feature was so useful in Win2k.
