On the forum main page, under the heading titled GENERAL, a section related to cars should be created. it would be a great idea since many people at RFD could talk about great places to buy car stuff, and just chat about cars in general!

I concur

We would need another forum for Photography, Overclocking / Computer modding, Astronomy etc.

Have to agree with Hurk on this one, not that that's a bad thing. There are plenty of forums already set up for other interests elsewhere on the internet. This is RedFlagDEALS.com, people generally come here looking for bargains and to flame VD's posts, not that that's a bad thing either.

I am also a gearhead of sorts and do enjoy cars and automotive related topics. However, i believe that Hurk is also right in the fact that there are other sites for automotive related issues, and also if they created a car section, they would ahve to create one for a whole host of things.

Well.. there's already a sports... there's nothing special about it... but it's already there.

At the time of the Sports forum's creation I seem to remember alot of sports related topics being posted in the Off Topics section. If enough people started posting about their vehicles in off topic, then I'm sure the mods would look at it.

Would there be sub-categories to separate discussions on real cars from discussions on riced-up, fart-piped, big-winged, neon-lit pieces of crap?

I agree that this is a great idea and I think that there is BIG interest out there for this type of section.

It would just end up being a flame fest. Few car forums cater to all makes and models because there are too many haters of different makes.

I also wait for the car section in here.

I doubt it will happen. Majority of the RFD users are techy types and not into anything else.

I think RedFlag can grab lot more hits if it starts a Car section (in BST section) - since there is no real alternative for autotrader. A free personal ads for cars will be a huge hit. Although it will also come with lot of problems (dealers posing as personals etc).
It all depends on mods what their objective is/are.

this is a no brainer guys... just start "flooding" the off topic forum with information about your cars. do one thread with pictures of your car and a write up about it... ask for "opinions".

then start another thread asking for ways to upgrade your car and places to goto for service.

two threads per person, times however many people who agree with this car forum, then we'll have a car forum within days.

ryan/derek did say that as soon as there are a lot of posts about one theme they'll make a new forum for it.

Most people who modify computers will probably like to modify most anything. That being said, I am an automotive enthusiast. That being said I do engine work to the cars I own and work on, such as porting cylinder heads and intakes, changing camshafts and gear ratios, installing after-market suspension (the springs/shock/swaybars/panhard/end links ect.) not just springs. I study the competition and know how to drive (yes, I really do like to go to the racetrack and race the clock over and over to improve.) Now introduce a forum where a whole bunch of losers with no mods (or the wrong ones anyway) can tell some hyped up stories about things that never actually happened (or couldn't possibly happen) and we've got a problem. Not are these types not well informed on the cars they will brag about beating here and there, but they encourage others to be just as ignorant because they can get away with it. We will have no bandwidth or server left for those that may need help in the other sections (cause we NEED the slowdown right?). Just in case you are wondering why I responded with all this information to your post, it is because your sig looks suspiciously like the stupidest movie of the automotive flavour. I can't even begin to tell you how much the movie makes my blood boil (no, I did not see it, but my friend showed me the most ridiculous clips of racing from it) and now every LOSER with a dream thinks it is the bible to street racing. I did some serious street racing and never saw anything so stupid as that movie. I say NO to the forum.

i would hv to agree w/ hurk. Too many topics, next thing u know people are going to ask for a cell phone forum, then a sub forum for all the brands. I mean unless it's a REALLY REALLY REALLY BIG topic, I dont' think it's worth making another forum specially for it. and cars, arn't big enough

How True! I am a tech mod wizard and love moding anything! remove the hood on that old car in my driveway and replace it with a new beige computer case. jks on that! :D but i do love moding anything, including hi-speed modems to increase my speed (worked once on DSL)
