I'll post a pic of it later. :)
I drew so much on Sunday. @_@

$40 - wow - does Toronto ever have any cheaper admission ones? Seems alot considering unless they have somebody from Star Trek I wouldn't be interested in any of the speakers.

yeah...i stopped going to the CNAnime since 2 years ago because the guest list was just boring. same old people too. they had the same 2 manga artists from "Slayers" for 3 consecutive years. boring....i don't plan to come this year. not even Elijah Wood is going to change it.

I'm just going to get angela's(atsuko and katsu) signature then leaving, after checking out the stores.
$45 is a rip, you can only buy the 3 day pass for the anime one, the others lets you buy single days :(

Canadian National Expo homepage (http://www.hobbystar.com/ComicConTorontoV2/CC_Main.asp).
Was at my local comic store last week, he said it's $20 for everything except the anime movie showings. Apparently the comic side is just all the local retailers hawking their leftovers/undesirables, hoping to sell some stock. Gee, that sounds enticing.
Do the celebs charge to meet them? If not, I may consider it; there's enough Canuck content that my interest is mildly piqued.

Note that comic writers/artists are free, TV/movie celebs cost extra.
That's a decent chunk of change to wander around and either line up to meet someone, or look at all the comic book stock that I could normally buy without an entrance fee.
Any compelling reason to go?

I thought long and hard on paying $8.50 to see him in Lord of the Rings; why would anyone pay $40 to see Elijah Wood?!!!

I'm probably gonna buy a sketchpad and disposable camera, then rock and roll my way over after work.
Wouldn't mind meeting some of the Canadian actors, but it isn't worth the extra scratch; I'll just get sketches/signings from the real stars. :)
BTW, Toronto comic publisher Udon Comics (http://www.udoncomics.com/) is going to be there, they do some good stuff.

Hmm, I think I might check it out tomorrow since I've never been to an expo convention before. Does anyone know if there will be any good video games at the event? Anime and movies can only keep me entertained for so long.
I'll be wearing my DreamCatcher t-shirt there tomorrow if anyone wants to come up and say hello to me. :)

hahaha, i read about this... "30 000 Fans" in one place...haha. I believe it's $20 for basic admission. I've got some friends going, I'll be downtown tomorrow...but I'm still not sure if I'll check in or not...the only thing I really want to see is this:
What is a Masquerade?
This is one of the most popular events of the Expo. Fans get there chance to show off their fantastic costume creations in front of a live audience for prizes. Most costumes are related to what our fans love most, Comics, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror and Anime. The effort put forth by the contestants in this event is incredible! This event should not be missed! Click on our "Features" link for rules and regulations.
Hahaha, only problem is it looks like you gotta get an extra ticket on top of the basic admission to see this freak show......

hahaha.. I'll be at the Udon booth until about 1pm, then I have to duck out for a wedding. Then I'll be back for a few and then out again.
wow, thread soooo old!
If it weren't free, I wouldn't be going either. *g* but if you're there tomorrow or sunday before 1pm, come by the Udon booth and say hi! We're right around the corner from the Aspen booth near the front-ish.
I should be hawking Streetfighter and my own doujin or something.

Edit: Here's the official con website (http://www.hobbystar.com/ComicConTorontoV2/CC_Main.asp) again.
http://www.hobbystar.com/ComicConTorontoV2/imagesInterface/ComicConTO_BotBanner_Comic.gif
Went to the con, a snapshot:
http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif: Jen! Steve McNiven and Josh Middleton were also genuinely good people. I wanted to get something from Skottie Young too, but got there a bit too late. Ian Churchill seems like a decent fellow, but his line was way too long for me to get in...
http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/images/icons/icon2.gif: WAY too commercial. It was depressing to see most talent turn their heads away from fans unless they approached with dollar bills. Sci-fi celebs were charging some insane amount extra; one package for James Marsters hit nearly $700!! I overheard a few Canadian talents mutter something about the American work ethic, no argument here.
http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/images/icons/icon13.gif: Greg Land, who gave the worst sketch in the history of history. Neal Adams, who ignored me and kept arguing with his wife on his cell. Both guys had really short lines by the the end, while the friendlier Canadian content still had good traffic at their booths.
Had never been to a con before, didn't realize that most vendors would be hawking their crap. I'd never been around so many unwanted back issues, critically panned collections and general tchotches in my entire life. Udon and the studio wedged between Neal Adams and ACTOR had good stuff, but otherwise it was less than their A (or B or C) games. Some of the talent on Artists' Row also had interesting stuff, but the $$$ is insane.
My recommendation: buy the cheaper $20 pass, skip all the comic vendors, buy some of the nicer items from small press/Canadian talent. I'm not a rabid patriot (alright, I am), but the Americans I met or whose booth I dropped by reacted like scalded dogs at my audacity in looking instead of begging to buy.
There's apparently a rule now that no pay, no sketch, but the Canadians all stepped up for me.

It was bland - AnimeNorth was better heh...
There were lots of free stuff though, so that wasn't bad.
Giving out Nintendo DS's, Pokemon stuff(yea, POKEMON! :o), DVDs, CDs at the panels, but not much.
Meh....

It was such a long day, I found some good deals though so it wasn't too bad, the angela concert was good, but it was obvious that the theater wasn't built for concerts so the sound quality had a lot to be desired. I'm totally exhauted and don't know if I will go there again tomorrow, if someone wants to go you could get my anime pass for 10 bucks, which is only half price of a one-day pass, PM for details ;)

The angela show was pretty entertaining. I was a fan since Stellvia, and I was pretty excited. I waited for a long time, I was in the front row :D
They didn't have a full band neither - but hey, if there was, they would need a whole symphony band + bass + drummer + keyboards, and I doubt that'd happen heh.
Their engrish was pretty good, Moooooee-suuu!!!

indeed animenorth was much better than the SFX... and is it me or did the Udon booth shrink too??... i really wanted the Street Fighter poster/scroll/banner they were auctioning... man it was sooo nice!!!...

hahah.. Udon booth was bigger this year, but we have an end cap usually, so this time we didn't have as much space "in back"
However, if you'd have come earlier, you could have bought a paper version of that horizontal poster for $20.
and DAMMIT. I forgot to take comics from them, though I did manage to buy my Oxide 2 book, which was SEKSI BEYOND BELIEF! <3 HTK.
