I have about $400 of Fido airtime that I have accumulated from unused minutes. I received a letter today stating that this expires in a few weeks unless I exchange $100 of my existing balance for a 1 year extension of my remaining airtime balance. I never knew that this airtime had a expiry date. Where does Fido state this?

All pre-paid airtime has an expiry date. Enter *BAL to find out what it is.

A top-up will extend the expiration date.
(Somehow, I wouldn't have thought this would be common knowledge.)

Be careful about handing them $100 just to extend you're expiry date. You're not really getting anything for that other than an extension of the expiry date.

If you're on the 30 cent plan, just throw in $10/month for a year. It will cost you more but you'll actually get to use the $120 you put in.

why the hell do u have so much $ in your prepaid balance?

switch to 7/11 if you seldom use your phone (and seems like you DO) and top up every year with $25 (which lasts for 365 days)

And if he "switches" to 7/11, what happens to the $400 he has in his Fido account?

He could sell the SIM with the balance. That's what I did, but my balance was < $100. Some international students may have use for the SIM with the balance. By the time they have to go back home, the balance could be used up.

I went to a Fido kiosk today at the mall and found that my carryforward airtime has no expiry date as long as I refill my account every month. Look's like Rogers/Fido is trying to pull a fast one on me

I'm not sure that they're trying to pull a fast one. I've been on Fido for years and it has always been this way.
