Looking at traveling into Thailand next year and notice the flights total a combined 20 plus hours from Toronto. Cheapest options are United and NWA who don't have Video on demand followed by the next options up for about $300 more who do have these systems installed. Would you spend more for the entertainment on these long haul flights? How do you handle flights that long without something to kill the time?

Bring my laptop and watch movies, listen to the ipod, read a book and sleep.

buy an ipod with the money you could be saving and put in your own movies, music and games to occupy your time

No in-flight entertainment system is worth that much to me. My iPod, laptop, PSP and books are sufficient.

I flew Vancouver-Manila earlier this year (~14 hours). Played the PSP for ~2 hours, watched the in-flight movie and slept or listened to my iPod the rest of the time.

Perfect time to catch up on reading, in my opinion. I got most of my best reading done on planes or waiting for planes.

I flew to Australia in August and the AVOD system was down for my LA-Sydney flight. I just used my iPhone to listen to some music and watch tv shows/movies I put on it. I also had happy pills that my doctor gave me so I slept most of the time.
