I just found out that Pearson Int'l Airport has a new cell phone lot where up to 50 cars can wait (max 60 mins) when they're picking up people from arrivals. I was wondering if anyone here has tried this and can tell me their experience of what it was like.

hmmm.. my experiences?

it was extremely relaxing.

the lot was vast, with a great view of sunset

the ground was paved using a delicate asphalt, which soothes your tires upon entering

the air is crisp, with an open window, and slight breeze of jasmine enhances the scent your car

the view of plans landing/takeoff provides wonderful entertainment for the kids

... seriously, its a parking lot, what kind of "experience" are you looking for??? you stop, wait, leave...

I think its been there for a few years now. Its just a big parking lot. It is convenient though, I hate those idiots who park their cars on the shoulder on an on ramp/off ramp.

I hate how they never get prodded by the police or airport personnel to move along when they park on the ramps and by the sides of the road. At the terminals though, they will hustle you along if you spend just a few extra seconds saying goodbye to your loved ones.

I admit though that the signage for the cell phone lot is very poor and can understand why a lot of people don't even know it exists.

That's more along the lines of what I was trying to ask in my original post. I had no idea that it's existed for years and have picked up people numerous times and never saw any signs for it. I have to pick up people this Wed so I'll be on the lookout for it this time.

The lot is great. You just drive in and park. It sure beats parking on the shoulder and running from the cops.

Or you just go to airport road/Dixon and stop in the Williams Cafe and have a coffee and wait...the difference in time is maybe 3 minutes.

Where exactly is it/how do you get to it because I've seen the signs for it all the time but i've never found it.

Yea you just follow the signs to it. I'm not sure if this is true for all terminals, but you know the part where you get to a light at the top of the ramp and then you make a left and another left to get back to the terminal. Well instead of taking that second left, you just go straight into some industrial looking area. That is the lot. Cars used to camp on the street right after the second left.

haha sorry if I'm not clear but I don't know the road names in that area.

The link in the original post has a map but the easiest way I've found is to actually drive through either terminal's departures level and upon leaving the terminal, follow the cell phone signs to the lot. The signs are pretty small so keep your eyes sharp.

Parking at a local coffee shop or fast food restaurant is also a good idea, where it'll at least be warm to wait inside during the winter.

The first time I found it was because I missed the turn back into the Terminal Loop... worked out pretty good. I don't think I've seen more than 7 or 8 cars in it at a time though.

They don't want to make it clear until after you leave the terminal area as that would take away business from their overpriced parking lots.

Certainly. I have used it a number of times. No complaints here.
