Hi fellow RFDers, I'm finally going to Las Vegas in two weeks and am really excited about it.
I would like to know how to find out about the shows and attractions available during my stay and I would like some recommendations on restaurants if you have any. I will be staying at the Bellagio and I know they have the cirque du soleil there but it is a little pricey, does anyone have any other recomendations?

Vegas is a great place for food. Wynn and Bellgaio have great buffets. If you're looking for gourmet food I suggest either one of the Mario Batali restaurants in the Venetian Complex or the Joel Robuchon restaurants at MGM. I had the tasting menu at L'Attelier a few weeks ago and it was to die for (altho rather $$$)
If you havent seen any Cirque shows before, I suggest seeing Mystere since it has the most acrobatics etc. If you can prove you're a student you can get 30% off tickets (other than O). There is also a ticket booth outside fashion show mall that has discount tickets.

Wife and I went in early Sept (first time there)
For restaurants
- Olives (bellagio) 2 thumbs up, superb
- BOA (steakhouse at Caesars froum Shops) . Good for a high end place, nothing crazy though, there are several other options in this category
- Mon Ami Gabi (Paris), it is across the street from the bellagio, nice view of fountains, mainly "top sirloin" cuts on their menu, 1 or 2 tenderloin or striploin cuts, not overly pricey (like BOA), good for the money, great view
- Martorannos (Rio), supposedly voted best meatball in the world... had to try it : ) was good, dunno about greatest in the world however. This place is a bit "different" . Food was very good (italian), but theres like disco lights going on, loud music, theres tv's .... take a look on the web.
-Canaletto (venetian), italian food at the paizza san marco area, really, I didn't like it at all. Overpriced, and def not worth it imo. I know of others who like this place, but I do not agree. Nothing special about it, and food is mediocre and overpriced.
- Only buffet we tried was the one at Paris, since most people we know said they have the best breakfast/lunch buffet (let me start by saying however, both my wife and I absolutely hate buffets, but decided to give this a shot), and yes, we were dissapointed. It was a buffet, nothing more. Pretty gross imo. I had burger king a few hours later if that tells you anything (and I find bk gross as well: ) ) .
Other places I had on my list that I wanted to try, and will likely try next time around:
Mix, Cathouse, Aureole, CUT, Joes Seafood, Burger Bar ... others as well, not coming to me now : )
hth
Have fun !
