Overview (http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/mobilephones/overview/xperiax10?lc=en&cc=global)

This phone packs some serious power including:

* 1 GHz Snapdragon QSD8250 platform
* 4 inch capacitive display 480 x 854 pixels WVGA
* 8.1 megapixel camera with LED flash – up to 16x digital zoom
* Up to 1 GB ROM (need to confirm this) / No word on RAM
* Ships with 8 GB micro SD (could vary by carrier)
* 1,500 mAh battery
* GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi
* 3.5 mm audio jack

The Xperia X10 will also feature some interesting software features like:

* Sony Ericsson Timescape – Manages all your communications with one person in one place. Browse through your conversations the bright way to check out your Facebook, Twitter, photos, emails, and text all in one go.
* Sony Ericsson Mediascape – Is the smart way to get all your photos, music, and video you want from your favorite friends and artists. It accesses content from everywhere (your phone, YouTube, PlayNow) and presents everything for you.

According to the press documents, the Xperia X10 will be available in select markets starting Q1 2010. Unfortunately the device was built for Android 1.6, but maybe Sony Ericsson can figure out Android 2.0 before the launch date.

Ya, this thing is ridiculous. I might sell off my Touch Pro2 for it.
It's weird though, I thought I heard reports of it being available in early November -- unless that's in Europe. I've also seen mention of Q1.

Nonetheless, the platform or "skin" it uses overtop Android makes it look wicked.
If I'm not mistaken, it also supports Bell/Telus' HSPA network.

Maybe Apple will now improve their hardware & software features for the next gen iphone.

Just read on engadget that the snapdragon is a heavy heavy energy user on the X10 (low battery life). Mind you, that was on a pre-production model.

How do you like the Touch Pro 2, would you exchange it for the X1?

if so why?

Baah! Who cares that your batteries last only 30 minutes on standby when you've got a phone that's faster than desktop computers from a few years ago?

Eh, the Windows Mobile operating system is a bit depressing right now. It's strange how the OS has been around forever and yet so flawed in many respects. The marketplace (app store) came out not too long ago, all the software is grossly overpriced and very few things to actually download. The system itself feels clunky especially relative to webOS/Android and the iphone os.

The Touch Pro2 itself is relatively nice, my main gripe with it is its underpowered processor which, as far as I'm concerned, is an "old batch." There's speculation it won't be powerful enough for WM7 which is supposed to bring WM up to par.

Most importantly though, it doesn't have HSPA support (speculation on this) for Telus.

The phone itself is nice, but no Telus compatible HSPA support, underpowered processor, weak OS, and simply higher powered phones becoming/currently available (iphone 3gs/HD2/Palm Pre/Omnia 2 etc) it's not worth it.

Would I trade the phone for an X1? Nah. The TP2 is reasonable, but not mind blowing.

Haha. When I fire up a HD wallpaper on my phone it drains about 3-4x as fast. Even then, I still do it from time to time on short school days.

Only 65k colours? No multi-touch support even though it's capacitive? =/
