Hi, I'm just curious because I have a Walmart and a Superstore in my area that are right beside eachother. I was hoping some people could answer my questions as to which one is better.
Which store do you prefer to shop for everything? Why?
Whos products/services are better?
What are the pros and cons of the stores?
In your opinion, what are the biggest differences between the two stores?
When you walk into Walmart or Superstore, which is better kept? (Meaning: store products aren't cluttered on the ground, you can find most of the products on your grocery list, etc.)

Various from store to store and depends on what you're shopping for. Both stores seem to match each other in terms of price (often time i see RCSS changing their price to 1 cent below Walmart's price on the night or the next day after Walmart's weekly ad changes). As for finding items on your shopping list... unless the item you want is on sale, both should always have it. If the item is on sale, then odds are Walmart won't have it because they get cleared out extremely fast. Walmart also seems to have more weekly deals (tho never buy meat there... nor bread... its much better elsewhere).

I prefer Loblaws Superstore than Walmart because they have more cashiers opened when checking out. I find Walmart to be messy all the time and the employees knows absolutely nothing about the products in their area. I asked if they did rain cheques and the employee was like, "Umm I'm not sure if we do that." and I asked her if she could ask her supervisor and she runs off and never returns (aka avoids me bc I found her goofing off with another employee).
I guess I'm an oldie bc I prefer to shop at stores specific to something. I prefer printing photos at Black vs. Loblaws/Walmart bc the printing quality (colour) and service is not only faster but more reliable. I come back 1 hr and they have it for me. I went to Loblaws and they said to come back the next day and they did not offer to print with a white border. I like white borders thank you very much.
Toys R Us is a bit more pricey than Walmart but at least I can find the toy and price. Most of the time (must be those damn whiny kids who don't put it back) I can never find the price matched with the toy. T_T; I couldn't even find the Scanner too so I was very wtf...
Also consider the time and quality/condition of the items when checking out the store.
Time: less cashiers opened means longer lines = esp. during Xmas time omfg it's long... Have you ever tried to return a product at Walmart? There's always a long line up and it's slow! =_=
Quality/Testing: at Blacks offers white border printing and other printing options, plus if you don't know how to edit photos, they can do it for you (cost extra of course but at least you have a source to go to). You can test most products before buying. Walmart toys are never officially "opened" bc all the lil kids open it lol.
Condition: The toy boxes condition are often dented or have finger-prints on the clear cellaphane. Idk about you, but if I'm giving the toy as a gift, it would seem "used" you know?
Price: if it's only a few cents cheaper, I don't mind paying a bit more at Loblaws/Shoppers. I would hate to drive/walk all the way to the other store (especially during Winter) just bc it's a few cents cheaper. Finding a parking spot and gas needs to be factored in also. =P

I'm with you angelove, as I too prefer shopping at specific stores for specific items. I'm a young guy, but I've never cared much for the whole "one-stop-shopping" concept. I think you get much better service, selection, and quality at individual stores. As a patriotic Canadian, between the two stores I'd prefer to shop at RCSS.

Definitey prefer Superstore over Walmart (I love RCSS :). Couple of reasons:
1) President Choice Products....enough said.
2) Fish, meat and deli counters
3) Store layout..I find the Walmarts too large and overwhelming....RCSS layout seems logical to me.
4) I HATE the crowds/people at Walmart
I have to say perception plays a big role in my like for RCSS -> I perceive that they carry more canadian meat and produce than Walmart. I also perceive that the meat and produce is higher quality than Walmart.
I really like the ambiance at RCSS....it gives me a pleasant feeling - it's bright, large aisles nicely decorated. Not really logical but I don't get that feeling at Walmart.
