SEOUL, South Korea — A woman in South Korea who tried to pass the written exam for a driver’s license with near-daily attempts since April 2005 has finally succeeded on her 950th time.
The aspiring driver spent more than 5 million won ($4,200) in application fees, but until now had failed to score the minimum 60 out of a possible 100 points needed to get behind the wheel for a driving test.
Cha Sa-soon, 68, finally passed the written exam with a score of 60 on Wednesday, said Choi Young-chul, a police official at the drivers’ license agency in Jeonju, 130 miles (210 kilometres) south of Seoul.
Police said Cha took the test hundreds of times, but had no specific total. Local media said she took the test 950 times.
Now she must pass a driving test before getting her license, Choi said.
Repeated calls to Cha seeking comment went unanswered. She told the Korea Times newspaper she needed the license for her vegetable-selling business

Okay, first of all I have to say congrats to this woman for getting her drivers license! Only 950 attempts to get her license, wow, why so long? Maybe the gov't was trying to scam her by charging her test fees everytime she did a test? LOL. You would think she would have passed after the 5th time or so but it took her a whopping 950 attempts, wow. I hope she gets her name in the guinness book of world records!

So if it took her 950 tries to pass the WRITTEN test, I wonder how many tries it'll take to pass the actual driving test? I'd hate to be near her on the road while that's taking place

i still wouldn't trust her behind the wheel if she managed to pass her driver's test. If it took her 950 times to pass a written test, then it goes to show she doesn't know the basic rules of the road.

You'd think after like 40 times you'd memorize all the versions of the test, but then again she is an old lady.

Even then, the written test is mainly common sense :|

They should pass a law to limit the number of times you can do the written in a year. 20 times sounds excessively reasonable.
At the same time you're not being politically incorrect by totally banning her from driving after a certain amount of failures...At that rate it'll only take her about 50 years to get her license :cheesygri

Maybe 3.
I've known people that have taken their G1 exit (to get a G2) up to 4 times to pass.

produce vendors can't drive. It's a stereotype because it's true!

I don't know, but anything that has to do with Asia or China seems to be posted on RFD, no matter how inconsequential it is.

The one I quoted was for failing 700+ road tests, the most recent one was for failing the written test.

That makes this situation even scarier! Ontario has a licence exchange agreement wtih South Korea. In a couple of years she would be eligible for a full class G licence.
