Last week I opened a RMA for western digital hard drive. Today the new drive is arrived, I need to send the defective one back to them. So my questions is, do I need to pay for shipping to send this defective product back to them? I thought they are going to send me pre-mail lable, but they didn't.

No you have to pay the return shipping and they pay to replace yours. Shipping on an rma is never covered both ways by any of the hardware vendors...>:(

I have had Fujitsu pay for my shipping.

Thanks for your quick reply. Did they send you pre-mail receipt?

Yes, it was a pre-labeled UPS sticker the driver stick on when he came for the pick up. Though, WD may have different policies; it is usually the case the customer has to pay for shipping.

It really depends on the company.

For Seagate I had to mail it in first (at my cost), then they would replace it. However when I had something replaced from Monoprice, I had to mail it back to them as well, but they gave me credit for the shipping back to them, which was a nice gesture.

depends on the company but in general you have to pay for shipping to send the defective item back.

I have RMA'd stuff to WD, Antec and Asus. I had to pay shipping to return the defective item myself.
