Hi, I am currently using Acanac for internet service now. But recently, I found that their down time is too frequent (e.g 3 times a day !!!!) So my contract with them is almost up now and I am not going with them next year, so if anyone knows a good reliable ISP in GTA, please let me know. I trust most of ISPs have limited download usage now, right?

Thanks.

But recently, I found that their down time is too frequent (e.g 3 times a day !!!!)Are you sure it's the ISP? Have you looked at your line stats recently? Most DSL modems have a web page or two that displays them. If there are line problems then changing DSL ISPs won't improve reliability.

a good reliable ISP in GTATekSavvy. Check their ratings on DSLReports. There's no one else even close.

I trust most of ISPs have limited download usage now, right?Bell throttles BitTorrent traffic so every DSL user, regardless of ISP, is now affected. There are ways to get around that, at least on TekSavvy. See the TekSavvy forum on DSLReports.

All ISPs now impose download caps or soon will. TekSavvy's 200GB/month is the highest.

Thanks, another question.

I called TekSavvy, and they said I either have to buy the modem from them or I can buy one outside.

Does anyone know where to get one? Which one is the best and reliable one?

For those who is using TekSavvy, what's your take on their service?

Thanks,

Does anyone know where to get one? Which one is the best and reliable one?Almost any DSL modem that's been made in the past few years will work. Many Tek users swear by the Thompson ST516 (http://www.shopbot.ca/pp-thomson-speedtouch-516-thomson-price-129797-2781409.html). You can buy one on the street for about half of what Tek charges. I use a refurbished 2Wire 2700 that I bought on eBay about 2 years ago for $20.

For those who is using TekSavvy, what's your take on their service? Read Tek's ratings on DSLReports.

I've been a Tek customer for several years. Their service in a work, "unbeatable."

There's nothing to worry about with switching to TekSavvy. Just do it.

Acanac servers are up 99.99% but a customer's line/modem sync
may need repair to find the best stable connection for it.
If you need help to know why you experience downtime at home,
feel free to send me a pm with your name and number.
