Hey guys. Hoping you can help me!

I just bought an HDTV and am looking to pick up an HD PVR. I called Shaw and they'll give me the Pace with a terabyte of hard drive for $399.99 (reg $500) or the non hard drive Pace for $249.99. BB has a non hard drive Pace version going for $229.99. Not sure if they are the same models are not. Either way, I'm wondering what would be the best option for me if I'm looking for an HD PVR with some hard drive space for recording. I plan on recording some programs, but probably less than 20 hours worth (HD or non-HD). If I opt for the non-HD, can I plug in any external hard drive to run with any pace? Or is it certain external hard drives and certain HDPVRs? Thanks in advance!

P.S - I ran a search in here and entertainment but could not find what I was looking for. If there's an existing thread please direct me to it. Thx!

Shaw is probably selling you the same PVR as BB but bundled with an external drive. They recently released a new HD PVR that doesn't come with any storage by default.

As for external drives there are some highly recommended/supported drives. The Western Digital My DVR ones(the same thing shaw sells) are the best so far.

For complete details, go to digitalhome.ca and look at the Shaw HD PVR forum. It has all the details and more about the shaw pvrs and really any canadian cable/satellite provider.
