Too bad for us, shipping and import fees probably would have killed it.

No go for Ottawa, guessing it's Canada in general.

Hi,

Is this rebate applied to the current price or on regular price as specified on Amazon website, that is $899.98 ? Anyone knows that ?

Thanks

This can be still a deal if you don't live near the border. I havent dealt with this company yet but they do a package forwarding service it seems described on their website.
I've driven by their location as its very close to the Blaine truck border crossing.

Until Nov. 21, 2009 you can actually get $200 off

http://www.usa.canon.com/app/pdf/Promotions/rebate_eos_110109.pdf

Also, if you are uncomfortable with the vendor in this post, you can always use Costco at $899.99 plus free shipping.

Again, this is only to US Addresses.

I have my sister who is living in USA, I can ask her to order it and bring it here for me at the Chritmas holiday. If this promotion is applied on the current price (USD $982.49), that is about 782 x 1.1 for CAD exchange rate it becomes CAD 860 . This is a really good price, the best price I can see here is from Bestbuy, last week, it was 860$ + (13% taxes) but for the body and the kit lense only, the 55-250 lens costs about 250-300 CAD here .

ThomasTran

No, all Canon Rebel Cameras are in consumer class. I have this one (paid 1073$ (950$ b4 taxes) - Bestbuy.ca on June 2009). This one has a very good LCD (920K pixels), higher ISO than previous model XSi, Video (HD too but frame rate is not good), spot metering.

would this be too advance for an entry-level guy?

Thanks OP. Just looking for a deal like this, and my brother can bring it up for me over the holidays. Now to see if there are any other retailer deals that might stack on top of this.....

For anyone close to the Blaine border (GVR) ...

I have used p2p parcel at Point Roberts. It's not usually a long border wait time but the hours are not great for pick up. But it worked very well for me. Free to register and you just pay a small fee for parcel pick up. You still have to declare your goods and pay the price but I still find it handy from time to time. It is immediately across the border in Point Roberts and close to Delta.

Both items must be sold by Amazon.

Thanks for the heads up on the T1i deal!

*********
Note: You can get a free UV filter!

Search for Tiffen 58mm UV Protection filter (it is usually also listed as a "you may also want" item from the T1i page).

On the right hand side, you'll see it available from other vendors. Make sure you choose the one from AMAZON.COM. If you choose from an independent retailer, it won't be free.

When you get to the final confirmation page, you'll see the additional discount of 12 bucks for the filter.

I heard it isn't all that great (causes problems with reflection, etc); read the reviews. But free is free :D

Courtesy of slick deals.
*********

I actually went for this exact same deal, but with the XSi + Lense at Amazon.com for 650 US shipped to a friend. With the price drop, I"ll gladly pay 100 more for the T1i.

Amazon.com has an amazing return policy, so I can return the XSi for full refund and free shipping back to them.

The "S" in EF-S stands for "short back focus", which means that the rear element of the lens is closer to the image sensor than on regular 35 mm SLR cameras.

The cameras that can use the EF-S mount are:

EOS 350D/Digital Rebel XT

Had to pull the trigger on this. Absolutely had to. I've been looking at deals for this camera/lens combo for a while, and nothing has been this good.

I've got a friend in the US who explicitly said that I could ship things to her and go and get them.

The Camera Body was $749 when I got there, so a little more expensive, but this deal tied with the gift certificates I had from swagbucks, made me jump on it.

Can anyone recommend a good SDHC card to go with this? I'm leaning towards the Sandisk Ultra II (extreme are too expensive).

I've read the A-Data 16gb turbo class 10 cards are rubbish and have an extremely high failure rate (often finding that out after losing important vacation/wedding photos...).

fastcat7

FROM B&H they have a kit with the two lenses in it and with discount applied it is $834.

If you add the lens to the T1i kit and take $200 off it is $784 but they aren't doing it that way.

Must be why the Amazon deal was such a good deal.

ThomasTran
Nov 13th, 2009, 01:24 PM
Yes, that I'm wondering why B&H does not apply the price on the detail price like Amazon:
- Rebel T1i + Kit : 730$
- Lens 55-250 : 255$
- 200 rebate it should be : 785, but they give the price at 834$ for the pakage . Remember that this is the rebate from Canon .

fastcat7
Nov 13th, 2009, 01:31 PM
If you refer to the canon offer, the bundle should be $899.00. I've looked at a few on line retailers and they are doing it this way. Guy at B&H said his should be $899 but for some reason it is coming up $834.
The Amazon deal was obviously a mistake as they shouldn't have taken $200 off the already discounted prices of the camera and lenses.

Camera and filter apparently shipped, but haven't heard about the extra lens yet. There's something funny with the way they've billed me individually. I'm just waiting for the lens to ship and add it up to ensure it's collectively priced the same as I originally ordered.

ThomasTran's correct. Also, make sure to manually select 'Free SuperSaver shipping' (which should apply to the Amazon items). I forgot and it automatically defaulted to standard $9.12 shipping. I had to contact Amazon and they credited it back. Not a huge issue, but just to save yourself an extra step.
