Do you use mineral or synthetic oil?
Where do you take your car for maintenance?
Is your car still on or out of basic warranty?
Powertrain warranty?

Before you do something dangerous, I should mention that I WAS JOKING and in reality you should not be putting Mineral Oil in your car's engine!
Refer to your car's manual for the correct oil change instructions.

Ah! I welcome myself to RFD!
Seriously, new Hondas have oil life monitor, that tells you when and what maintenance to perform - turns out like twice a year or so, depends how much you are driving... BMW oilchanges are like once a year...
I understand Infiniti is a luxury brand, but to require oilchanges every 3 months?
Am I missing the point here?
Other than Infiniti what cars require oilchange every 3 months?

GM's the same with their own oil analysis tool. 7K or even 10K at times. I doubt that infiniti requires oil changes every 3 month under regular conditions.

Don't worry about what Honda, BMW or others recommends.
You can either follow the Owner's Manual or do what you think it's right.
I change my '08 Nissan Coupe 3.5SE (technically an Infiniti, LOL) every 7k/km and use Castrol German 0W-30 Synthec with K&N Oil Filter.
I can probably extend it and change it less but I'm not comfortable, especially with the way I drive. This DIY cost me less than $50 every 3 months which is nothing when I spend $100+ a month on Starbucks.

I drive a 2000 I30t, it has 195k on it and I put regular oil every 5k. The engine runs like new.

being an Infiniti (luxury brand) has no bearing really on how often oil changes should be done. check your manual and the car will tell you when you need to do it. I would use this as a minimum oil change interval, however in reality oils can go much more than 5k, even conventional oils with a good additive package like Castrol GTX. look into oil analysis and bob is the oil guy forums. you will see people are going 7000 miles without a problem. Its your own discretion really. some people feel and believe different things.
Does anyone know if warranty work will be denied if the oil changes arent done under factory service schedule??
