does this promo require a coupon or is it automatically applied like most of their am promos?

In the past I have tried to pay for my purchase with gift cards during this promotion and was not allowed to do it. It's not in the fine print but it's not allowed for whatever reason. It's not a chance I would recommend unless you phone ahead and get confirmation from a manager first.

GVRD Folks: I wonder if we need these cards or if it will automatically get credited to our Sprize cards. http://www.mysprize.com

Gap Inc. employees can purchase gift cards at 30% off & since Give and Get event used to be a Friends & Family event (but it is now open to the public), they won't let you use the gift cards. I learn that the Banana Republic gift cards sold at Safeway is different than the ones you can buy at the BR store. The cards at Safeway are brown and the ones at the BR store are either black or beige.

I bought $100 gift cards today at Safeway & will try to use it during the Give & Get event. I have my Safeway receipt to prove that I didn't get the 30%off on my cards.

I have also had this experience of not being allowed to use giftcards during this event.

This won't make a difference, I'm afraid. They don't accept any gift cards for this promotion. The ones I tried to use before were from Air Miles redemptions, and they didn't even ask where they were from, they just said they weren't allowed. I tried to use them on more then one occasion with the friends and family/give and get. I would hate to see someone pre purchase the gift cards and then find out they can't use them.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll save those gift cards for another time then. Since I shop mostly at Gap & BR, they will be spent soon :)

I don't think it is legal to discriminate gift card holders because gift cards should be equivalent to cash in that store. It is like Gap only allow gift card holders to buy regular priced items but not discounted items in this case.

You should buy the jacket at 30% off first (as they may not have your size left) and then return the one you bought at 25% off.

Hey!

I'm a guy looking to get a solid, durable peacoat for the winter. I was wondering what the differences were between the peacoat offered @ BR vs. the one @ the Gap. Are the differences in quality really that noticeable to warrant spending the extra $100 (with the discount, of course)?

Also, does anyone know how much each costs in Canadian dollars? I'm looking at this one (http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=50263&vid=1&pid=663385) from the Gap and this one (http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=51319&vid=1&pid=680771) from BR. I think I'd like the BR one 'cuz it looks more classy, though I'm worried about its price in CAD. Thanks.

Has worked on sale items in the past.

I've found that usually anything that automatically comes up at the cash register (like sale/clearance prices) - without having the cashier enter a discount code - can be used with this type of offer.

Or even better, take the jacket purchased at 25% off, return it, and rebuy it right then and there with the 30% off. I did this during the buy one item for 40% off sale. Bought a shirt at regular price, but I had a spare coupon left, so I used it on the shirt. BR shirts aren't cheap. Over $100 after tax.

The BR one is 260 and the Gap one is 138.
They are different and i personally find it quite different.
The BR is a cashmere, wool blend while the Gap one is just wool.
The BR is thus lighter than the gap one.
BR comes in black and navy blue while Gap only in Black
Also the Gap one currently is in limited numbers. Not all stores carry it (Supposedly Bay and Bloor does)

I myself have both jackets and I personally like BR one. :P

Yeah it does depend on the CSR, but officially they do not allow you too.

But, Gap (not sure the rest), if you buy a product from Nov 2-Dec 31 you have extended returns until Jan 31 including Final sale.

So on the website store locator (http://www.bananarepublic.ca/br_eng/store_locator.html) it shows the regular store locations, but I was wondering if there are any outlet stores in ontario, and if so, where do I find the locations?

Edit: I've been googling, and apparently there's one in the Vaughan area, is that pretty much it for the province?

suziecute
Nov 10th, 2009, 11:18 PM
It seems that the store locator on the BR website is not accurate. You should call one of the regular BR stores near you & ask them for the nearest outlet

There's a BR Outlet and Gap Outlet in Edmonton but they are not listed on the BR or Gap Canada website.

Gap Factory store
978-99th NW
South Edmonton Common
Edmonton

Banana Republic Factory store
1430-99th NW
South Edmonton Common
Edmonton

Use the 30 % OFF GIVE AND GET coupon which starts today from GAP , OLD NAVY and BANANA REPUBLIC ... ( In case all the 20 % & 25 % coupons are gone from ON )..plus ON , GAP & BR give 5 % to charity .

http://www.gapinc.com/giveandget/care/

It can be used for ON SALE and Dicounted products ALSO even though it says on the coupon you can't use it for sale or discoubted products .

I used the 30 % OFF GIVE AND GET coupon today @ OLD NAVY for an outerwear jacket which was 50 % OFF and I got 30 % OFF additionnal on top of the 50 % discounted price .

So I got the $ 44.50 jacket for $ 15.57 !!!

Plus you can use this 30 % off coupon as many times as you want for different transactions..its a multiple discount coupon..and you can use the Print Out..Original Coupon is not needed .

They have stacks of this coupon at the cash register just in case you want the original coupon to give someone else..anyways print out is accepted ..and they don't care if the product is on sale or not..they just scan it and give you an additional 30 % off of the already discounted ( lower ) price..no hassel.

That's interesting... When I went to BR on Nov 12, I saw the coupons but I didn't get one when I purchased $200+ (after 30% off) worth of merchandise. The people around me also used the Gap Give & Get 30% off promo for their purchases, and none of them received the coupon.

Suspicious, I made my wife purchase something on regular price, with no discount, and she received the coupon!

I'm going to return my stuff and buy each item back at 40% off when I have a chance.

This was in the Oakridge, Vancouver location...

Yeah BR does that quite often. You have to remind them to give you the coupon.

Was rejected the $30 with the 30% off today at Gap - totally sucked. :(

Cashier pointed out the fine print, which I had already seen, but it was worth a try. Oh well.

I was able to get 2 down jackets with $30 off and 30% off, $148 original, $82.60 final.

was able to pickup some clearance items with an additional 30% off at BR; so i got two ties for less than $10 each and a polo shirt for $12. great deal on the ties as they were originally over $70 each. they even gave me the 40% off coupons

The F&F postcard I had said NO price adjustment made on items purchased during the event.

However, as we all know, this varies from store to store and cashier to cashier, since some might do a return and repurchase for you.

Yes the additional 40% off was only valid on clearance priced items. The sales associate told me that it was only a 1 day sale.
