This is the more common and well known LG 720p plasma. With extra features over the PQ12 selling at the same price at FS.
PM this at BB, Sears, Visions if possible.

PM at BB for $891, and if possible get their Flat Panel In Stock Guarantee, if you can find a BB store without one of these in stock. This potentially could give you another $50 off and free delivery, for $841 w/FD. YMMV

Thanks IC, have been looking for a TV for the inlaws for cmas.

Sears also sells this, so I'm hoping the Bay does as well so I can PM and then use some HBC cards I have.

Any luck hunting for it in Bay?

I'm heading there this morning and will update the thread later on today.

FYI the Bay has an extra 15% off this morning (first 3 hours after opening) on all* items if you use you're HBC CC. The big question i have is if the typical exceptions on electronics, etc. apply???

If not, then the deal would be huge :D

EDIT: The bay would not price match Gibby's as they are not on thier 'PM list'; in fact they wouldn;t even come down to BBs price - the best they could do was 1049 and the 15% off does not include elects.

BB wouldn't PM Gibby's either, but they did come down to 929, so I bit at that price.

Too bad that they wouldn't match. What was their explanation for not matching Gibby's at BB?

Gibby's does not have the 30 day product exchange program... basically b.s., but for $40 I wasn;t going to argue - plus I got them to throw in the monster screen cleaning kit for free, so I really only paid $10 more than gibby's.

That's not bad then.
Congrats on the purchase, even if it is for the inlaws.

Costco also has reduced the price of their version of the 50PQ30, the 50PQ20 to $909 online and I assume $899 or better instore. It includes the 90 day return/2 year warranty too.

Thanks, I'll go to Costco this week and check it out, do you know if there is much difference between the PQ20 and the PQ30 ? Thanks :)

Slight cosmetic differences, button placement etc., but functionally exactly the same, to my knowledge.

The feature content does vary from the 50PQ12 to the 50PQ30.
50PQ12 does not have USB 2.0 for jpegs and video, intelligent sensor,no side jack panel.

LG link will clarify

Would this television be a good buy for a strictly ps3 gaming setup?

They are plasmas, so they have pretty reflective glass screens. LG tends not to use any ant-reflective coating on their plasma screens, so they may not be the best option for a room with bright uncontrolled light sources directly behind the seating position. The upside of their choice is that in moderate lighting conditions, these displays tend to outshine the competition, with a bright, vibrant picture.

Future shop also has their exclusive version of this display on for $899 until 11/22/09.

The 50PQ60 has extra connections and uses the single flat glass look used on some more expensive LG models.
