I am look for a fairly large computer monitor (22-23"). My TV is dying too so I'm wondering about getting a monitor tv combo. I know nothing about this stuff, how would I go about finding what I need? Anyone care to give me the ins and outs?

Here are the specs from my computer:
1024 x 768 max. ( XGA ) (no widescreen)
Intel GMA X3100
VGA port
1.0 x Hi-Speed USB -
VGA monitor output
1.0 x IEEE 1394 (FireWire) -
1.0 x Display / video -
1.0 x Microphone
4 pin USB Type A ,
3.0 x Network -
15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15) ,
1.0 x Headphones -
4 pin FireWire , 1.0 x Modem

I do not have cable so I suppose whatever tv or monitor I get would need some over the air something or other?

Get an LCD with ATSC tuner. The price premium is about $50-60 over a similar LCD monitor but a built-in ATSC tuner is worth >>>$50 if you are going to using it.

The Samsung T220HD (22" ~$250) will suit your need if you want best bang for the buck.

Look at some of the antenna threads and see how easy it is to get HD over the air in GTA.
