Just went to Best Buy and Star Trek the next generation the motion picture collection (Blu-Ray) is indeed $39.99 from 72.99. This is not advertised in store, online OR in the flyer.
Bought mine at Newmarket Ontario store
Happy hunting!!
THESE ARE BLU-RAY
Seems some stores are scanning at 39.99 others at 64.99 Some might still have the shelf tag for 39.99...
Good luck!

I don't trust blu ray reviews from an official blu ray site.
blu-ray.com is not an "official blu ray site" -- the fine print at the bottom of every page says "This web site is not affiliated with the Blu-ray Disc Association."
(Normally, managing to get an official-sounding domain name is an asset. I wonder if this negative reaction is isolated case or common? ...)

haha. i must be an exception.
i used to use blu-ray.com to review blu rays, but after disagreeing strongly with their favourable review of Lost Season 4, i started doubting their reviews. And it seems like almost all the blu rays get fairly high marks.

There's been so many posts of this boxset going for $39.99, and all of which IIRC have been false.
People have simply been mistaking the DVD boxset for the Blu-ray set.
Are we sure these new lowered prices are for blu-ray sets or DVD sets?
BB website doesn't even have the blu-ray boxset listed, only the DVD set. FS has it, and it shows as $59.99.
Bought mine for $58 before taxes, but don't know why I got it so early. Haven't watched a single movie yet from the set. Gonna kick myself now if the price goes down.

blu-ray.com is used to be one of the biggest fanboy (I hate that word) sites around, especially during the HD-DVD era where they constantly posted junk articles. They have some good reviews but my overall impression is that they are still a bit immature. I'll stick with highdefdigest.com

I bought this online at 1:30AM PST this morning. Actually, I had posted a thread on this but I think the forums were under maintenance and it was timing out, so I went to sleep. I woke up this morning, and it was already removed from bestbuy website.
Futureshop has had it for $59 for awhile and I was waiting for it to get more stock online, so I could go PM at Bestbuy which had it at $73.99 before.
I've been tracking this at bestbuy and futureshop over the last month and pending a shipping notice, I should finally get my hands on a copy for a decent price. :D

I can confirm this in the Markham BB location.
Its kind of weird because the 'yellow tag' display on the ST TNG collection in the normal BR section showed 69.99 on sale, but the smaller section in the front had the same yellow tag showing 39.99 from 74.99.:?:

OK, first of all sorry about the link to the DVD for $44.99...my bad. >:(
Secondly I picked the Blu Ray up in Winnipeg. The shelf price clearly said that it was for the Blu Ray version and the price was $39.99. Proceeded to the cashier where it rung up at $64.99 whereupon I told the cashier that she had to take $10 off for the SCOP error. She agreed and confirmed with a manager and I got it for $29.99 plus tax of course. Thanks to the OP and to BB for the great deal!!! :D

Just got a copy from Warden and Eglinton BB. The label on the shelf said $39.99, but scanned in as $64.99. I got the cashier to adjust the price and with SCOP applied, I ended up getting it for $29.99+taxes. :)

I picked this up tonight at the Best Buy at Highway 403 and Dundas for 39.99 and can confirm that it is the Blu-ray set. The sticker price reads 72.99, item scans for 64.99, showed the cashier the shelf sticker for 39.99 (which specifically references the Blu Ray set) and she adjusted the price. Item is Star Trek The Next Generation Motion Picture Collection SKU 2169635 (according to sticker on the box itself); four theatrical films (Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, Nemesis) plus fifth bonus disk (Evolutions).
At this store, the discs themselves were on the shelf infront of the cash registers -- walk in the door, turn left and look on the shelving on your left as you walk towards the entrance to the cash register line, middle of bottom shelf beside a Batman trilogy set). There were 2 of the Star Trek Boxed Sets left on the shelf after I bought one.
Thanks to OP for the great deal!!!

I tried to get one at BB Eaton Centre. There were 3 in stock but they wouldnt honour the lower price, claiming that it ended yesterday. The date on the sticker didnt make sense either (something like 2010?) and I didnt want to argue.

Wait, so people are willing to pay $40 for one good movie? Seriously, have you watched Generations, Insurrection, or Nemesis lately? Insurrection makes ST:V look like Oscar-worthy material.
I suppose it's a hot deal in terms of being 45% off. Hope that bonus disc is worth the premium over buying just First Contact.

I, too, have been to 2 best buy locations (and did the Yonge / Dundas "BB/FS/HMV" triad twice) looking for a $40 price on this set... but I'm done looking for a bargain that isn't 100% rock solid advertised in stock price. It's only a $15 or so savings, and I'm not investing another minute in this until it's just "on sale" somewhere, or the regular price drops to $40 or lower.
