"Among the successful candidate's duties: drive the luxury cars, manage the wine cellar, pack the suitcases, serve the food. Be available, as the boss might say, on demand.

Among the successful candidate's rewards: a salary of $71,400. A bed in the house of one of Canada's richest families. The fastest cable repair he has ever witnessed.

An indiscreet member of the billionaire Rogers clan is looking for a live-in butler."

Those interested in applying can submit their resumes here,

"Private Family Office" on the 10th floor at 333 Bloor St. E. – the headquarters of Rogers Communications Inc.

Maybe they can also help you get the ultimate phone/cable/Internet rate?

I would imagine part of the perk is free cable/tv since you're living there.

I thought they would pay more than that, to be honest. I don't think I have the resolve to tend to people's bidding 24/7. Wouldn't last a day.

The winning candidate, a sincere person with a "polished appearance" who has graduated from both a butler training school and a university or college, will be, variously, a chauffeur, valet, event planner, personal shopper, cook, secretary, and manager of both the wine cellar and something called "household inventory."

Higher level education has finally paid off. Plus how can you beat "the fastest cable repair he has ever witnessed" as a perk? That alone and not having to ever call retentions would be the icing on the cake. I bet some people would apply just to get their cell phones bills fixed once they get the job.

But it does seem like they may be paying for just about everything on top of that...room....board...utilities...transportation. ..so I mean..that perk package could be another 50k frankly...

Which makes sense: after all, if the butler is going to be called on whenever, the last thing the anonymous Rogers wants is a "little" thing like rent or utility to get in his or her way by taking up the butler's time and focus. Take care of the small stuff (from a Rogers perspective) and most of the worries are gone.

Don't know why, but this post reminded me of a Will & Grace episode; Bathroom Humour:

$71k isn't a lot for basically a slave. The description says you need to do a lot. I thought at the very least they would have a dedicated chef, an assistant and maid. The butlers I know don't really do everything except welcome guests and do the occasional errand but it seems like they want someone like Mr. Belvedere and Tony "Micelli" Danza rolled into one.

Does the perk include shagging the widow?

I know it's a bit disgusting. But beggar can't be chooser.

You can't be serious. $71K isn't alot? Has RFD got to the point where servers are villified because they want to be tipped, and the homeless are shunned because they're lazy. I'd say $71K is a pretty good salary for things I already do for free.

Professor butler from the article said it was a bit low of a salary for a properly trained and professional butler and that salary range would attract a lower skilled butler.

My friend was a personal chef for a certain grocery chain family making $150,000.00 a year which is a fortune in the culinary world but left it because they needed to pay double for what was involved.
For a professionally trained butler it's quite low but then again it's Robbers were talking about.

71K is very good and remember room and board is included. I'm sure they'll be also including cable/cell/Internet and if you go over the Internet bandwidth caps they probably won't mind. Torrent city baby!

Does not compute. Arent slaves usually working for free? In which case $71k would be a lot of money to a slave.
If you are paid to work, you arent a slave.

Yes, but you are doing the work of a slave. Constantly being on call to do another persons ***** work is degrading.

It may be **** work to a multi millionaire but its just normal stuff that everyone else does (better than what we do actually).

I don't think these jobs are degrading at all, these people take a lot of pride their jobs. Comparing it to slavery is ridiculous and ignorant.

While it's normal stuff we all do day-in and day-out, when someone else sets the timing and the level of quality, it becomes work and when someone asks you to be oncall 24/7, including weekends and holidays and treats you without respect (not sure this is the case with this job), but if this occurs then it's called "slavery". Other workers don't have to put up with this or if they do, they don't have to put up with it for very long. Slavery isn't the job, it's the way you are treated.
