Futureshop flyer has the Klipsch RF-62 tower speakers for $349.99 per speaker. That's $250 off! Savings of $500 for the pair.
Here's the link...

I currently have the Klipsch Quintet III's (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10068532&catid=20323) as a 5.1 System with a Klipsch SUB-10 SubWoofer (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10065506&catid=20326).
Would the Quintets make for suitable surrounds with these towers in a 7.1 setup? I'd obviously have to upgrade the centre channel.

I am sure FS made another mistake. The flyer out west and clearly show RF IV which is RF82 for $699. You can see it online flyer as well. RF82 for $699 is a great price so try to get this before they decided not to seel it.
Sorry I made a mistake. It is RF 62. I misread it online this morning. Obviously I wasn't wearing my glasses.

Futureshop website says the RF-82 is $699 EACH.
The RF-62's are $699 for the PAIR. (at a savings of $500 off)
Truthfully I don't have a room big enough to warrant the 82's. That's a bit too much speaker for my needs.

Is Klipsch a good brand?
How is it compare to this $599 JBL from BB

When I did a lot of research to buy a home theatre, I found that a lot of people were saying Klipsch has a different sound to it (more of a honking sound). Either you love it for hate it. Make sure you listen to the speakers before you buy it. I ended up buying Paradigm Monitor 7 series complete set

I recommend spending an extra C$142 and getting the Axiom M50.

I bought the quintet III's as well for $379 at bestbuy.. I am looking for a good sub to pair it with, any ideas?

Well I have only heard them paired with my Klipsch Sub-10 and have been VERY happy with the results. I got the sub and Quintets last boxing day through Bestbuy. I believe the entire package was $499 (I could be wrong, my memory sucks).
Anyways, I was worried the 10" wouldn't pack enough punch, but I was wrong. My windows, floor and walls all rattle with this thing....in a good way. It's definitley a precision sub.

For those looking for new quality towers there are a COUPLE pairs of Energy RC-50s on clearance at the Futureshop in Toronto (Weston/401 Crossroads). New in box.
I picked up a pair of these and much prefer them to the Klipsch.
I'd call the store in advance, there are nearly no other left and FS has already removed them from their webstore.
The RC-50s, BTW, listed for $799 retail EACH and currently sell for that current price in the US.

Klipsch speakers are an acquired taste, people say that because of the horns they use for their tweeters they tend to be classified as bright. Although that's personal preference because when I auditioned Klipsch speakers I found they were perfectly fine. You might want to listen to them yourself before you buy. As someone recommended in this forum, Axiom are a great bargain for their performance. I settled on the M80s myself and they are absolutely phenomenal for the price. Axiom is comparable to Paradigm in terms of performance for a lot less money because they don't sell to vendors only internet direct.
If you're willing to get speakers through hearsay, because you can't try the Axioms out until you get them. I would highly recommend looking into their speakers. They come with a 30 day money back guarantee but you have to pay for return shipping. Which is not too expensive, I think it might be something like $60 for their towers.
Axioms also has a good deal if you order their speakers from the factory outlet you get 10% off. The tradeoff is they might have minor cosmetic blemishes. If it's not a big deal for you that your speakers look perfect then go for it. At worst you might get a scratch or two on the side of the speaker, at best people often report that they can't even see any cosmetic problems on the speakers.
Energy used to make excellent speakers, I think lately their quality/price has declined quite a bit but they have a much warmer sound then Klipsch, I'm not sure I would recommend them over Klipsch but again it depends on what kind of sound you like.
I guess in your case the problem is you want to match these speakers with your current set up and in that case you might want to go with the Klipsch so that you at least get somewhat similar sound in surround sound applications. Also, make sure your Receiver can power these speakers adequately before you buy them.

I'm running a Denon 889 so powering these will not be an issue. I've heard the RF82's and REALLY liked them. I love how bright they are. But again, they are simply too much speaker for the space I have.
The 62's would be a adequate solution I think, problem is the closest futureshop to me doesn't have them in-store. I'd have to either drive out of my way to a different location or just take the plunge and buy em.

I have picked up a set of RC-50 back when FS was doing 1 day sales on various items
ended paying 800$ for both and they were 800 for 1 at reg price
Im definitely ahppy with my purchase
the speakers ''holes'' are kevlar!! nothing like rubber/plastic or even metal
so it,s a very nice sound because kevlar is permeable so air can actually flow through it.. it gives a really nice feeling on subtle sounds like rain pouring, very realistic sound , the tweeter dome is aluminium so its very sharp on highs.
In all I would not trade those for probably anything else they sell at FS or BB because of the Kevlar particularity which for me is really somtihing special it gives a crealistic sound at very low volumes

I indeed got a pair of RC-50s for $599, at the weston/401 Futureshop. the guy in the store didn't even know he had stock, nor even really knew what model i was talking about. lol
You'd have to go specifically for that, ask for them by name, and have them look them up on their system - NOT the web, you wont find them there.
I highly suggest calling in advance, there were 6 on hand before i bought mine.

Do you have a sub with your system? I currently have the RC 50s paired up with the klipsch synergy 12, RC mini center and Mirage surrounds in a 6.1 system. I stumbled over the 50's actually looking for 30's with no luck - personally i thought they would be too much for my current scenario.
I haven't broken them in yet so I don't know if that's true, but i had suspicions all i need are the 30's.

well first of all congrates on getting the RC-50 at 599$ the pair thats a steal
FS still sells the RC-70 which is basically the same except it has one extra channel for 1250$ / 1 !!!!!
and it's their most high end speaker so stop thinking aobut anything else youve scored a HOT DEAL
I am slowly using them and I havn't put anything at explosive volumes so far I can listen to some decent high volumes though and Im really happy with the sound
I unfortunatly dont have any cneter or stallite speakers yet:( because i have not found anything to match it
there was a sale on the micro system which i heard is very good a while back but i dont remember the specifics i just know i should have pulled the trigger back then
it would have gave me a 7.1 system then but for now im just waiting to find a hot deal on center an rears , im not really thinking 7.1 although im not saying no wither
the energy center that matches the RC-50 is like frieking 750$ at FS so no thanks ill wait
do you have anything for sale? ;)

Just snagged two. According to the person I talked to, there are two left.
I was wondering if there are any good receivers out there? Right now, they're just going to be going through an old stereo I have. Which makes me cry a little.

I agree with this.. You have to audition the speakers. I own both the RF8 and the Energy.. it's personal preference. I like the sharp highs of the titanium horns from the klipsch reference for home theatre use (love to hear glass shatter on them) but some people find it a bit artificial or bright.
The advantage about the Klipsch is that it's so efficient (sensitivity), it can make a low powered amp sound like a power house.
The deal is dead for the CF-50.. I was going to get my friend to buy a pair since the price was right.

Yes I am definitely referring to the RC-50, not the CF 50 that were on sale a couple weeks ago.
Last we heard there are TWO left at the crossroads. Call FS and go gettem
edit FYI these show up as being $288 each cost to FS, so definitely a good deal
