I was thinking that when a user identifies a topic as a repost, they enter a message "repost" into the Topic, thereby bumping that topic ABOVE the original thread.
There should be a way to mark a topic as a repost. The user should be able to paste in the post ID of any post in the 'original' topic, and a few things could happen:
- the repost is brought to the attention of the mods who can then merge the second thread with the first.
- the 'original' topic can get a 'bump' post so it rises to the top
The Mods would only have to confirm that it is a repost, and their admin controls could provide a one-click "merge" function.
