Do credit card companies 'feature match' other companies or would I be wasting my breathe trying to get a 'feature match' with my current CC company?:

If you are carrying a balance and trying to get a lower rate, they sometimes deal with you.

"I got this other card offer that offered 1.9% for 9 months and I'm ready to do a balance transfer and close my account..." THAT can work sometimes.

My feeling is that they won't negotiate on points, cashbacks, bonuses, etc. However I have never actually tried it. By all means, go and try and let us know.

But interest rate is doable. However if you are carrying a balance at high interest, you have other things to worry about beyond Air Miles and stuff.

Many of the "features" a credit card offers are matched by other companies through competition. It's rare to find a features, such as insurance, price matching, warranty, etc... that one company is offering that no one else will. If you call up a prospective company they can let you know which product meets your requirements.

Cashback and other rewards (airmiles, aeroplan, etc...) are typically what differs. These cannot usually be matched (How could an airmiles CC give aeroplan miles?).

I asked BMO to credit the 49$ fee for the 1% cashback. I said some free cards offer that (and even better) for free. They denied my request. So I closed my checking and credit card account with them.

... the competiting financial institution that received his business? RBC and TD destroys BMO in terms of earnings per second. If he got what he wanted from another institution then I guess he got the last laugh?

Every product is "fixed" in terms of what it offers/what the benefits are and those CANNOT be adjusted or "matched".

The only thing that can be adjusted/over-ridden is the APR or balance transfer offers.

Yeah. My checking account cost me less at NBC and my credit card at MBNA give me more cashback, better advantages (platinum card) and at no fees. I save 85$/year and I have superiors products. I win, they lose (yeah they don't lose too much, but they lose).
