Haven't been paying much attention to the tech world lately..but what do you guys think? Samsung Q320 (advertised on Hot deals section) or custom build a Dell / Lenovo?
Must be 14" or smaller with DVD-RW and good battery life.

It depends on whether you are going to play game with it or not. Notebooks with a discrete video card cost more then the one that is build in.
The other component is the CPU, the one with Core 2 dual is higher price then then dual core and the AMD is the lowest price of all.
Ram is cheap now, so most notebook comes with three to four gig of ram now depends on whether you opt for 32 or 64 bits Windows 7, 32 bit can only use 3.4 gig max ram access, for the 64 bit, the sky is the limit.
Hard drive is also cheap now, they don't add much to the price now.
So there you go, just look for what is suited for you and pick the one within your budget.
Don't forget to check out the new Core 2 Macs too. They are very competitive in pricing now. You can pick up a 13.3" 2gig DDR3 ram, with Nvidia video card Mac book, seven hours of claimed battery life for $1099.00.
Have fun shopping.
