I wanted to cancel my $15 unlimited internet because I just don't use it on my crappy touch diamond. I did ask the guy what it costs if I accidentally connect to the internet because on my phone it doesn't matter what I disable (unless I turn off the phone all together) my phone will connect to the web if you so much as launch the browser.
He tells me I will be billed at $30 a meg... I say 30 cents a meg? No sir $30 a meg. That shouldn't even be legal!
I ask them if they can turn the data off from their end so my phone just cant connect. No sir we cant... what a total joke.

Wow, someone else who hates the Touch Diamond? Wow.
It was one of the worst purchases I've ever made.

If the Touch Diamond is running Windows Mobile, simply remove the connection details under Settings > Connections. You'll see a username of 1XXXXXXXXXX@1x.telusmobility.com (where all the Xs are your phone number). Without these details, your data connection should fail.
What you're describing, however, is not specific to TELUS.

a priest, a rabbi and a....oh wait...u didnt want us to tell a joke...
I have the rogers diamond and what i did to prevent it from connecting to the internet was to set the automatic connection to the internet to "My ISP" which is a blank profile. So when it tries to connect, it fails...but wifi still works

Yeah that's what I did as well. Thing is my phone feezes up every week or so. When I reset it I almost always have to go do it again. Last thing I want is to argue with telus about a $30 charge for loading google.com (ok I know its not that bad but its still outrageous).
bibowski I couldn't agree more. Took me over 2 months to get a replacement from telus after I got the first defective one. The second one worked a little better (especially after the update) but I tell anyone who asks to stay far far away from it.
I always liked Telus customer service right up until I had a problem out of the box with the diamond and I was told, and I quote "its your problem, you bought it now deal with it". If it wasn't for the fact that I have the cheapest plan I can find with them (EPP 17.30) I would ditch telus all together. In fact after my talk with multiple reps yesterday I still think im going to switch to someone else just out of principle. I know most companies are just as bad as telus but ill take my chances with the "devil I don't know" rather then giving the "devil I do know" more of my money for horrible service!
