I am starting with a new massage therapist and was wondering if it is costumary to tip. The girl I used to go to did not accept tips. Was she an exception or is tipping a registered massage therapist akin to tipping my dentist?

Thanks

depends on if it is a happy ending... I think the fees are fixed for a registered MT.

You should not tip an RMT. Well, you can try, RMT's are not supposed to accept tips. In fact, all medical professionals are "taught" not to accept monetary gifts. (Whether they choose to accept is an ongoing ethical debate)

If you want to show your appreciation, give them a referral for a new client, or send a glowing letter of appreciation to their manager/employer.
