I was at the FutureShop on Yonge/Dundas yesterday looking at some TVs. When I informed the rep I was in the market for something in the 47"-52" range, he mentioned that they're holding another VIP invite-only sale on 11/26 and gave me an invite.

Has anyone been to these? What type of deals can I expect during these sales? Would it be worthwhile to buy a TV during this sale or hold out another month for Boxing Day?

Was it an invite to go to the store or online?

it's most likely going to be just their regular friends and family sale.

Just expect 10% off a tv.

In-store with an appointment.

So you can't just walk in and get the same prices as the invited ones, I assume?

I don't recall any of the F&F sales to be invite-only.

Did you mention that you were a Free Mason?

Sounds interesting.

Sounds like a way to sucker a bunch of buying-motivated people into a high-pressure situation. I think you're handing over a lot of your power as a consumer away when you start letting the store dictate when and where you show up. Most people aren't going to want to leave empty-handed, which means more power for the seller.

Maybe a few years ago. For the last year or two FS/BB have been doing the "Save the GST on TVs" instead of 10% off.

It'll be 10% off, but they will jack the price up the night before, so it will be more like 5% off tops. Typically this is what happens in FS BS sales.

This event may be a little bit different as the invitation card has not only the sales' name, also the schedule. I talked to a salesman and barely found a good time slot for both of us, and he promised there would be some deals as hotas south's black friday. Let's see...

Which FS was this? I want an invite just to see how hot the deals are although i would probably be lining up @ the border during the event...

Robson st, Vancouver. Every sales has around 20(?) invitations to give. I talked to the guy in home audio/video dept, and it's like everyone was booked off already.

I got one of these too.

I was visiting a futureshop in Markham, Ontario.

On leaving the store someone stopped me and asked if I'd like an Invite to a VIP event Nov 26th and that they'd have boxing-day prices for me on that day.

I had to give them my name and phone number, and he said he'd call me back tomorrow (Nov 25th) to arrange a time on the 26th to come in.

He also asked me if there was any special item I was interested in (I told him Sony Receiver, which I am interested in. There STRDH800 is already on sale, so just curious if maybe I'll luck out with the invite and get it even at a better price or something. With my luck, probably not, but I figure I have nothing to lose. The store's not that far from my work so hopefully I can make a lunch-hour type appointment and just see what they offer.
