Recently I'd read this one :

I am from Thailand. So I "used" to eat durian when I was there. ( I quit eatting durian since 15 years ago)

I actually never bought durian here, in NYC, though. I have a friend who has a business importing durian to here. The process of preserving is involved chemical process and frozen the fruit. So, the fruit should be at the same state when it comes out in the market. (Don't worry, I think it is standard to the industry)

However, I never eat a ripen durian that turns gray. From what you experienced, I guess it might be that they leave it out until it gone bad and then they put it back in the fridge after they packed the cart.

Maybe you should try from some supermarket that they always has durian in the fridge.

Durian is the bomb, I remember they had it on Fear Factor where someone had to chug it (they put it in a juicer). I was thinking "give it to me, I can do it easy!"

The question is, "What do you think of frozen durian?"

I think I'd like to try it. I have smelled it at Soon Lee, Markham and Lawrence, and it is not like any other fruit, but many people like the flesh, and it sells for $1/lb there.
