Well for about $1500 you can configure a Dell Studio 17 with those specs. The only thing you won't get is the 6hrs battery life which is pretty unheard of for a Windows laptop. The only notebook I know of that can do that are the current MacBook Pros.
Well I shouldn't say totally unheard of there are some Dell and Lenovo business laptops that let you insert secondary batteries into expansion bays but that's a whole other price range.

not true any 9 cell batt. will yield 5hrs+ at least. From what i see the studio 17 does have a 9 cell option. The studio xps 16 would also be an alternative but i do not see any battery options. Anyways either would be a good buy, just wait for one of those dell days of deals that occur regularly or rfd.

Sorry but all the reviews I've read for the Studio 17 with the 9 cell battery show it lasting for only a little under 3 hours under moderate use. I also find your blanket statement of ANY 9 cell battery powered notebook lasting 5+ hrs a hyperbole because most mainstream laptops without ULV processors and other power optimizations would be hard pressed to get 5hrs.

wow that sucks...i imagine you can probably only turn the computer on and off with the 6 cell lol.

my t400 will do approx 9 hours, of course with light usage though. I wouldnt be surprised if with some hardcore optimization i could get it to last slightly longer.

I don't doubt you there but I think we can both agree that in most cases 6hrs of battery life for a laptop while doing anything reasonable is pretty rare, especially in the case of a 17" screen.

just google 9+cell+t400+hours :). Ill post up a screen shot as soon as i can. I didnt think 17" could be so bad with even a 9 cell batt.
