Today I tried to buy something from Best Buy online and it processed through to Verified by Visa.
It asks the usual validation information, and it says all my information is wrong. This is weird, so I call the # on the back of my card and talk to a rep who says I must register for VbV on ScotiaBank before I can use it.
I go to the website and try to validate my card. Once again it says all my information is wrong. I call back in and they ask me the validation questions and say nothing I said was correct. I head to my local branch where they are ammending everything because I showed up with Drivers License, Passport, SIN, ScotiaBank VISA and Debit card.
Birthdate: Wrong
Mother's Maiden Name: Wrong
Postal Code: Wrong
I've had this card for 1.5 years and it has a $3000 limit. I spend about $600-$800/mo on it. I'm 19 by the way.
The thing that threw me off most is that the postal code was wrong, but I receive my monthly statement regularly each month in postal mail.
I still can't believe how this actually happened.
Any ideas how a credit check went through and found me last year?
