View Full Version : My Credit Card Information Is Very Incorrect???

Today I tried to buy something from Best Buy online and it processed through to Verified by Visa.

It asks the usual validation information, and it says all my information is wrong. This is weird, so I call the # on the back of my card and talk to a rep who says I must register for VbV on ScotiaBank before I can use it.

I go to the website and try to validate my card. Once again it says all my information is wrong. I call back in and they ask me the validation questions and say nothing I said was correct. I head to my local branch where they are ammending everything because I showed up with Drivers License, Passport, SIN, ScotiaBank VISA and Debit card.

Birthdate: Wrong
Mother's Maiden Name: Wrong
Postal Code: Wrong

I've had this card for 1.5 years and it has a $3000 limit. I spend about $600-$800/mo on it. I'm 19 by the way.

The thing that threw me off most is that the postal code was wrong, but I receive my monthly statement regularly each month in postal mail.

I still can't believe how this actually happened.

Any ideas how a credit check went through and found me last year?

Scotiabank is wacked that's all I can say... They still send me mail with my name spelt wrong even though I've called and had them correct it twice now.

The best part is when I check my transactions for my visa over the phone it lists them all off one by one and as soon as it says who the purchase was with and for how much it goes silent each time... "Purchase from *silence* for *silence*".

This is too fishy and wacky. If I were you, I seriously consider cancelling the card or would ask to change the credit card number when I update the personal info with the bank. This smells "Identity Theft".

Watch all your other bank statements, credit history, insurance policy, etc for any suspicious activities and transactions.

Apparently all of my information has been wrong since the card was created.

That's what I am thinking.

OP, I suggest you pull your credit profiles from both Equifax and Transunion ASAP and look for anything that's out of place.

It can be done for free if you find and fax the right forms, which are very deeply hidden on their websites.

As for myself, I pull my own credit bureau records every 4 months.
