Anyone looking at the new condo developments in central brampton around main and queen? There seems to be 2-3 new buildings going up.
Any know of or have feedback on the builders?

Usually Brampton is not a "recommended" area to buy a house/condo. Here is some reading for you on this topic:

thanks for the link - skimmed through and seems like a lot of hate and angry people.
What is attractive to me about these developments is that it is located right near the Go station..... which is great for working downtown and avoiding the horror that is the 410 and the Gardiner
What is not so attractive is that I have never heard of the builders and dont want them to turn out to be another conservatory group

Going to bump this TTT as the Toronto Star started a 5 part article series on the Blade Condo development in Brampton.... I'm thinking this will stir up some interest :)
Looks like pricing has yet to be set (why would they when they can judge the market in 3-4 months and release their prices accordingly).
What peaks my interest about this development is its centrality in brampton and its walking distance proximity to the Go Station...... great for people who work downtown but live in the suburbs

Brampton Blade Condos update:
Visited their show room on the weekend and spoke with some of their sales reps, took a tour, looked at all of the floor plans (and there are dozens), and took a price list.
Prices go anywhere from 179K for 1 bedroom to Mid-High 300's for 2 bedrooms (around 950sq ft on average). 1 bedroom + Den are all around mid 200's.
Condo Fees are $0.49c a sq ft
They have all sorts of facilities incl Gyms and Rec. Rooms and a skating rink on the 10th floor if you care for that stuff. IMHO the condo fees seem a bit high.
There were a lot of older people (late 40s, early 50s) coming in the sales office who also had appointments...... didnt see anyone under 35 while I was there.
Ok I am going to keep on to of this in case there are some lurkers out there that do care

I would forget condos, period, if you are worried about condo fees. You have no control over them, and also no control over special assessments. They go toward doing things you can do by yourself in a house. Also, if they include utilities then there is no incentive for anyone to conserve and money will go down the drain there, too.
Also, if they do see big increases in future, it will affect the value of your condo.
